Well Yoon probably didn’t expect his day would go like this when he woke up this morning.

Did they deny his healthcare at the door?

It’s funny, on the New York subreddits, 9/10 people don’t GAF and are showing absolutely no sympathy for this CEO. Shows how broken healthcare is in this country.

Also, apparently, the gunman knew the target would be coming in the side door, used a silencer, and used a bike (motor?) as a getaway vehicle. I haven’t verified any of this, but that all points to well-planned premeditation.

Eat the rich.

UnitedHealthcare has a claim denial rate that was double the national average totally at nearly a third of all their claims seeing a denial, on top of them delaying the notification of 100 million instances of privacy leaks after a Russian cyberattack.

Compare the details of how this one turned out, to the details of what happened to that Boeing whistleblower and, not to make light of such things, but you can tell which one would have been planned by me, and which one would have been planned by @schatenjager. IYKYK

French government in voted out my the National Assembly in a no-confidence vote.
331 deputes voted for the motion.

PM Barnier will send his demission to the president as a consequence.
This is only the second time this has happened in the current republic. The last time was in 1962.
Barnier will also become the shortest PM, at only 3 month. It took 2 month to nominate him following the June election that reshaped the french legistalure.

This has the potential of a deep political crisis if no coalition is worked out.

The People Power Party has decided today (the 5th) to oppose the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol as its party platform.

Floor leader Choo Kyung-ho told reporters after the emergency general meeting of lawmakers held at the National Assembly the night before, “We have decided to oppose the impeachment of the president as our party platform.”

Earlier, six opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, submitted a motion to impeach President Yoon to the National Assembly, and it was reported to the plenary session early this morning.

Since the impeachment motion must be voted on within 24 hours and 72 hours after it is reported to the plenary session, it is expected that the plenary session vote will take place as early as tomorrow (the 6th) or at the latest the day after tomorrow (the 7th).

Floor leader Choo said, “Once the voting date is set, we will make a final decision through the plenary session right before that,” regarding the reason for opposing the impeachment of President Yoon. He then responded to the reason for opposing the impeachment of President Yoon by saying, “I will tell you later.”

The People Power Party has decided to oppose the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol and boycotted the plenary session.

Cowards. They really are like the Republicans.

The Democratic Party of Korea strongly criticized the People Power Party for deciding to oppose the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, “This is a declaration that we will become accomplices to the crime of sedition, and we absolutely cannot tolerate it.”

Cho Seung-rae, the Democratic Party’s chief spokesperson, made the remarks after the impeachment motion against President Yoon and Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun was reported at the plenary session of the National Assembly held early this morning (the 5th) while meeting with reporters.

Cho said, “I am deeply sorry and strongly protest,” and pointed out to the People Power Party, “I hope that the president will once again reflect on whether he has the ability and qualifications to properly run state affairs, the government, and the Republic of Korea.”

He continued, “We will mobilize all means at our disposal to correct the Yoon government’s wrongdoings and show our strong will that we can no longer tolerate the president running the Republic of Korea.”

The requirements for passing the impeachment motion for the president are ‘proposed by a majority of the members of the National Assembly and approval by more than two-thirds of the members of the National Assembly.’ As more than 200 of the 300 members of the National Assembly are required to approve, considering the current 192 seats of the opposition bloc, if all the members of the People Power Party are present and vote on the party line, the motion will be rejected.

And @HerbGamer I know you will appreciate this article:
(fun fact: one of my old uni teacher is one of the people asked to explain the situation  )

The largest question will be the Budget.
The no-confidence vote happened because of it, and rejected it. (it was deep austerity)
France is not at risk of a US-styled shutdown, but the options available are complex. And some never used before in our history.
But if no legislative options work it will be either a shutdown or emergency powers.

I’m interested to see what type of coalition forms next. Because at least right now I don’t see any clear path forward. I guess Macron could just make a similar appointment but after the government got toppled I dunno if he’ll just reattempt that mess. Maybe a technocratic government comes next?

This is why personally I like parliamentary systems over Presidential systems. Obviously parliamentary governments can grind to a halt if a legislature can’t govern but also most of these problems are a direct result of Macron making Barnier the Prime Minister to begin with instead of letting the NFP attempt to form a governing coalition.

Yeah, they’ve been really vicious about it. I wonder why Reddit are so quick to pop the champagne over Brian Thompson but are so quick and eager to condemn Trump’s attempted assassination when he’s far more infamous. Maybe I’ve just been in the better, mainstream subreddits, but most comments celebrating it were downvoted or removed.

I mean, I don’t support violence against any businesspeople or politicians, I’m just confused why nobody billionaires like Stockton Rush and Brian Thompson who we otherwise wouldn’t know about get so much more gloating over their deaths while Reddit clutches pearls over threats and attacks on politicians.

Then again, maybe it’s because Rush and Thompson actually died. We haven’t had an assassinated US politician in a long time. If that bullet did blow Trump’s brains out, maybe Reddit would have been having a more spirited discussion.

Romania’s Constitutional Court has annulled the Presidential election. They’ll have to start over with another first round instead of moving forward to the second round between Georgescu and Lasconi.

What do you think @EvilGeniusRo?

Was about to post the news :stuck_out_tongue:

If it means no more Georgescu then it’s all good. Which doesn’t mean we’re out of danger yet. Now Georgescu 's supporters will probably be rattled and vote with Simion which landed 4th. Same with Sosoaca’s supporters doing the same thing. These three individuals are cut from the same cloth.

Ciolacu is a real sore looser, promising a lot of things that he would do now that he is out of the runoff but all this is his doing since the Constitutional Court is under the Social Democratic Party’s thumb. If it was Ciolacu against Georgescu and not Lasconi, the Court wouldn’t have bothered with annulling the vote.

There is no hope for this country, more than 30 years since Ceausescu’s fall and we are still a bunch of thieving corrupted imbeciles.

I had the feeling that upon Trump’s re-election, political discourse was going to get more violent and vicious, seeing that Trump was rewarded with a second term for sending his dogs to storm the Capitol. Look at where banking on civility and basic human decency got us.

I predict that we’ll see a high-profile American political assassination or several next year. Senator or Governor, maybe a cabinet member. I obviously don’t endorse it, I just think the country’s descending down this path.
