jesus christ… Such a unique game that got some great critical success, they do not deserve this…
So much for acquisitions to build up their exclusive library…
(I’ll admit I kinda left Hi-Fi Rush on the backburner, since I’m focusing on other games, but I’ll get back to it soon, I’m sure I’ll love the rest of the game…!)
The worst is, I can actually kinda understand Arkane Austin. Redfall development caused the majority of long time devs to quit, so it’s an empty shell now.
Tango Gameworks is a mess of a decision though. HiFi Rush was Xbox identity in its prime. Double A passion project, I really wish that was GamePass thing. An evolution of the house of indies that Xbox had in the 360 era.
Maybe it still will be, and that’s just restructure at Zenimax because they are a general mess that needs restructuring. Since they are incapable of the other side of their job, reliable triple A. We will see if they are announcement on the other side of restructuring in the following months, I would hope so.
I don’t read that in the article. They just compare the two and notice Hogwarts Legacy was much more successful.
I actually don’t see any conclusion from WB in there. Just observations and sad pockets.
I guess WB and many other big players operate by trial-and-error when setting the scope of games. There seems to be a total lack of market analysis about how unpopular certain games can turn out to be if they are live service, initially very buggy and so on.
Then again seemingly successful games like Hifi-Rush get their studios closed.
I don’t know if I should have any faith for the future of games and developers if they are not independent from big publishers or at least from companies that are not privately owned.
Speaking at the recent Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, Warner Bros Discovery executive JB Perrette said the company wants to expand more into free-to-play and live service games in order to avoid the “volatile” ups and downs of big-budget game releases.
Sure you are safe from up-and-downs if you make sure there are only downs.
Wow. But also… ehhh, very prudent of them?
Steam is new. I heard that GMG was refunding it first. Huh.
I highly doubt the PSN Multiplayer requirement would blow up in the same intensity and volume that Helldivers 2 did, in a seperate, smaller multiplayer horde mode.
But I guess Sony or the seperate storefronts are trying to avoid any mass-refunds if there ends up being another crusade or wave of people angry about the account-linking.
I guess they can always just set up another pre-order and that one wouldn’t get cancelled?
