So then why did you say that you hate the trend of games using Unreal 5 if there are so few games? Is it because Unity is more accessible and / or flexible to make different types of games?
I didnât say that I hated games being made using Unreal 5, in fact Hellbalde 2 is going to be an Unreal 5 game and I would be first in line to get it were it not an Xbox exclusive.
I just think most people who take an old game and run it though Unreal 5 are more fixated on simply making a prettier bush. Rayman has a unique style, even the older 3D platformer ones have one and the Unreal 5 demo above sort of removed it. At least that is my opinion, it might be because there arenât a lot of assets for it yet because it is novel but all these hypothetical projects and tech demo remasters I see using the engine all look samey. Hell Ubisoft created a whole new engine simply so they could make painterly games like Rayman Origins and Valiant Hearts, it is the best thing the company have done in decades.
Gamers are so obsessed with having the best fidelity that style and substance seem to go by the wayside for a lot of them. Kinda like comics, someone that has even the greatest deviation from the traditional Big 2 house styles and they become a pariah.
Wow, i bet you didnât expect all of that, sorry I guess.
I would say so but that doesnât mean creative people canât or wonât use Unreal 5. Unity simply attracts people with niche ideas, those people have big ideas but limited means with little formal experience beyond what they have done in a computer lab so indie games will, of course, be made on a more userfriendly, accessible and, naturally, cheaper engine.
It is the difference between A24 and Disney. Sure Disney have their own formula that works but it is very limiting but that isnât to say you canât make a good product within it but the system and the reasons why that system exist make it harder. A24 is an independent label, they have a lot of various projects that cover a broad range of styles though not necessarily genres but that means you get a lot more crap as well. Like Unity, my for both was simply a joke and the examples are obviously cherry-picked. Unity has a reputation for a reason.
I have to say sorry for the rant again since I added an addendum.
Wait till more games remade using RTX Remix get released, then youâll see games loosing their original art style
Dunno, that Rayman 3 fan project looks exactly how I imagine good modern remakes to look like. Thatâs how I imagine that PoP: Sands of Time remake to look if it ever gets released that is.
There have been remakes using modern engines that look like caca, GTA Definitive Edition being a good example and I was never a fan of the Quake 2 RTX thing. Making things shinny doesnât make it better.
Iâd say it is less the engine that was the problem and rather them attempting to automate the job using AI. Which sounds worse than any glossy Unreal 5 demo.
That is my secret Ro, I donât play on PC.
I thought it felt glossy, something about it makes it feel like I was looking at something made in Dreams granted it was something exceptionally well made in Dreams but it had that vibe none the less.
I mean you could just play the new one. I donât really play those sorts of games myself but i heard it was actually really good.
Canât wait to shoot those robots again
Also hey TheChicken they are improving that robot chicken skins Lego style now so it shouldnât look like Zane from Lego ninjago with lipstick

CAW! CAAW!
I have played and enjoyed Dead Cells, Hades, and Slay The Spire â but I havenât beaten or finished any of them. Iâm just not very good at hack n slash roguelites, and I havenât put enough time into Slay The Spire.
Still, I am interested in Spire 2, and Rogue Prince of Persia especially!
Edit: huh, come to think of it, the only roguelite Iâve beaten is Hitman FreelancerâŚ
Not my kind of game, but I think the soundtrack of Rogue Prince of Persia will go into my âbackground music for reading/workingâ directory.
(also I find the animated trailer, and the general art direction beautiful)
It looks like Mark of the Ninja and Sable used Dead Cells as a surrogate to have a baby. I am here for it!
Sincerely,
A Guy Who Played The Shadow and The Flame When It Came Out
Shame that Paul Karason passed away because if they would make a movie adaptation based on this game, he would be the easiest pick for a role
God be praised!

Harold Halibut reviews are out and they are mostly average. The world is beautiful and the game is boring and repetitive. This was my fear when I first heard the game would be more a narrative-heavy walk-around-and-talk-to-people experience than a moon-logic inventory-items-puzzle game. Oh well. Iâll still play it.
