Just a misunderstanding, trust us.
Can I ask, who uses publisher accounts for things beyond launching the game? If I bought Red Dead Redemption 2 through Steam I had to create a Rockstar account to launch the game, but I donât recall ever having interacted with that account other than to launch the game. Same thing goes for UbiSoft and any other publisherâs account that I was forced to create. I donât know that Iâd care all that much if the account was deleted due to inactivity since the only purpose of that account was to launch a game that I wasnât playing any longer.
Rockstar requires you have a social club account to link your purchase to an account. They also require an Internet connection upon bootup of their titles just to get passed the DRM in place.
As much as I love RDR2 the worst thing about Rockstar games is the inability to boot their games offline.
Yeah, whenever you boot up RDR2, youâre also logging in into your R* account.
And it´s even better when you´re online but can´t play the game cause SC has a server issue, lol. I was hoping R* would ditch that thing when they came up with their own launcher, but no, they instead require you to use bothâŚ
Right, but I donât ever use that account for anything beyond starting or running the game. While Red Dead Redemption 2 requires me to have that account, I donât need it for anything other than playing that game.
In other words, if I deleted Red Dead Redemption 2 I would have no need to keep the Rockstar account and if it were deleted, I could simply recreate a new one if I ever wanted to reinstall the game.
My question is whether there are players who use those publisher-specific accounts for things outside of playing a game? If the account being deleted also removes my ability to ever play that game again, I can see why deleted accounts are a big deal, but as it stands, Steam knows I bought the game so why would I care whether Rockstar does?
And I know that Rockstar and Ubisoft are different companies, I just used Read Dead Redemption as my initial example. I couldâve used Watch Dogs or Far Cry just as well.
I have a few games that I bought directly on publishersâ own stores (Ubisoft Connect, EA app, Rockstar Games Launcher). For these games the only record of purchase that I have is tied to those stores/launchers. Deleting my accounts would therefore make the game unavailable to me.
That makes sense. Iâve never tried to buy a game directly from the publisher digitally. I think Ubisoft said that if you have game purchases tied to an account they wouldnât delete that account.
That would seem to only leave accounts subject to deletion that have no game purchases tied to them. Iâm not sure what the use case is for a publisher account where you donât own any of that publisherâs games.
If youâve pre-ordered the game, today is the day Telltale Games is BACK
Otherwise, itâs tomorrow.
deep breaths in and out, in and out FOR FUCK SAKE, THATS ANOTHER THING THAT WILL FOREVER BE CRINGE AHHHHHHHHH
Iâve been taking a break from this money/time/attention sinkhole for a few months now⌠But this? Goddamnit, the meme just writes itself.
It canât be a coincidence, I really really hope it isnât
A new logo was found as well!
I want to follow this post with more information. An announcement is imminent. Rockstar has been doing more behind the the scenes stuff on their Website in preparation for a newswire.
Updated RDR Font for Newswire Post.
Select Platform Button found in Website Source.
Secondly on the Social Club end of things since I donât think it was reported here, but Achievement Images have been upscaled a bit back.

Thirdly, I want to temper peopleâs expectations due to the Website Source Leaks by Tez2. If a Nintendo Switch version is being referenced then expect it to be a Remaster. Thereâs a very slim possibility that Rockstar could put a Remake on Cloud similar to Resident Evil Remakes and HITMAN 3, but i find the likely hood next to none. I also want to add the fact Rockstar could announce a Remake, but follow it up with a Remaster taking a move similar to Konami with Metal Gear. But as of right now the bare minimum is this release will be remaster.
Lastly, an announcement could happen tomorrow at the earliest. Take2 Rockstars Parent Company has their Earnings Report Meeting with Stockholders in a few days and things could line up with it. Itâs all speculation of course.
Jackbox Bird Game! Jackbox Bird Game!
Looks interesting enough. Guitar Hero feat. birds that sound like wacky intstruments. Okay, hope it works good enough streaming through a browser!
With this, thereâs 5 games announced, and thatâs the pack.
Iâm very sad that You Donât Know Jack is not returning for another year now⌠Hopefully this either means weâll get the next entry in #11, or thereâs potential for a standalone release?
