Iāve listed in my entry of the Syndicate rankings thread that Espionage is my least favorite, mainly because of the Do Not Pacify and Doors Stay Locked objectives, but Iāve since softened on it a bit. Itās still my least favorite, but Iāve been able to mitigate those objectives by just letting NPCs open doors for me or opening them from the unlocked side, even if I have to take a longer path, and because once you select a syndicate, Iāve found that so long as you donāt start the mission yet, you can do the disconnect restart and you have to pick a syndicate again, and it randomizes them again, so I just keep doing that until I donāt get any maps with a Do Not Pacify objective, or that itās at a location that I can handle with preset disguises to use and no couriers to collect from. Takes a bit, but removes a lot of the frustration from the gameplay. That objective, combined with the only one disguise counting returning to your starting outfit as more than one, are the most annoying objectives by far.
Definitely not just a latest patch thing. Itās been there on the ladders into the basement for a while (since Freelancer launch I think). Itās just when you slide down, itās a quick flash of the void.
I didnāt know that to be honest? I was going to raise a bug ticket around it, but donāt know if it will be a priority for IOI? There is more outstanding bugs fixes Iād rather see fixed in Freelancer first, but it would be nice to see it fixed eventually.
I remember seeing something like that, but Iām pretty sure it was never this bad. Sliding down now, Iād call it more than a quick flash (but of course that description will vary from person to person)
You guys are talking about the ladder from 47ās bedroom to the basement right?
Yeah that one has had that weird wall-disappearing bug since earlier this year thatās for sure. It wasnāt always 100%, but Iād see it every now and then I think.
I remember thereās also a small issue where 47ās body would disappear for a split-second when he reaches the āseamā between the main floor and basement levels on the ladder.
Yeah thatās the one. I donāt recall the wall-disappearing bug being as bad as that do you? Think itās only being as prominent as that since the latest patch, but I might be wrong?
I hate Freelancer, and I want to like it, but the alerted territory mechanic is just the worst mechanic ever added. Okay, thatās unfair. Enforcers in Absolution are way worse. I just, If i lose a level, i want it to either stay the same difficulty or get easier, i shouldnāt have to deal with 6 more guards while i have 0 guns.
I canāt when i also have no money cause i lost 7 missions in a row (there are guards added to the finale missions if they are alerted, in addition to more guards being enforcers,or at least it felt like it.)
It can be hard when youāre starting from scratch. Youāll have to use what you can find in the level to finish the first few missions. Try to take your time and always check your surroundings to avoid getting caught. When you get caught, try to analyze how it happened and how to avoid it next time.
You can collect guardsā weapons and some other items lying around in the levels to bring back to the safehouse and future missions for free (check the Freeloader thread for a full list). Most of those weapons will not be silenced but better than nothing. Go to Dubai early to pick up a silenced, concealable SMG, which should help a lot. Sgail can give you a silenced pistol.
With time, your collection will grow so that you always have something available even after a campaign failure. You will also unlock new areas of the safehouse that have items or allow you to craft them that you can bring along as well.
Also, if you do wind up on an alerted territory, take advantage of the civilian disguises. Then the targets at least will no longer be enforcers. Take your time, until you get used to the way it works, you canāt just go in guns blazing, you have to be careful and a bit methodical.
Thatās just the typical answer from someone when they canāt get the hang of Freelancer Listen, we are started off in your position and it was tough to get going, but once youāve established your own routine and way of working, youāll love Freelancer. I thought at first, how on earth am I going to get my head around this, but once I did and got myself established, I loved it and Iām still playing Freelancer consistently to this day. In fact, I now play Freelancer more than I actually play Featured Contracts and the Campaign levels.
For the first couple of levels, stay silent and use your fibre wire for kills. Also, look for weapon crates within the level to try and start building your inventory.
I will say this now, Freelancer isnāt really a mode for guns blazing, no matter what others may say.

Think that one can be a bit buggy, for me it usually worked when I did a second call after the first one, just ko the first person who arrives at the meeting and plant their phone too. But even then Iām not sure it always works.
