Love the roguelike aspect, but cant do an hour long session. In Dark Souls, there is no save, only pauses. Regardless of your situation, if you exit the game you resume in the exact same playstate as you left, for better or worse. I dont always have time to play in chunks and some of these maps take longer.
This forum is not about Dark Souls, this is about HITMAN.
In HITMAN, in Freelancer the same priciple except of you can’t leave the mission.
Finish it or fail it and you’re free to go.
When you come back, you can continue where you left, just couldn’t replay failed mission.
I see no problem in how it been designed.
You can never leave HITMAN in the middle of the mission if you’re not playing main campaign on not higher than Professional difficulty.
In main campaign you can save the mission whenever you want (except of fighting state) and come back later to that same point.
But saving game available only then and never else, so the players have already get used to it despite quite a few don’t like this mechanics. But it is what it is.
The more you play, the more you’ll get used to it
Unfortunately there is no save and exit function in Hitman. On my ps4 if I have to interrupt my gaming session I pause the game and put the console in standby mode. Later I usually can resume playing the game when I turn the ps4 on. Sometimes unfortunately the connection to the server cannot be restored so I have to restart. Another reason to hate the always online requirement.
Oh got it. Thought this was a forum about Dark Souls… the whole Hitmanforum.com threw me off.
Instead since it is a “wishlist” forum for features requested for Hitman, my wishlist for is one where you can leave a freelance session midgame and continue at your leisure.
I don’t think this we really need to be this negative about this sort of pausing. I’m all for keeping Freelancer’s high stakes and improvisational nature, but the soulslike/roguelike style of save and quit doesn’t really impede with it much, since it doesn’t allow for rewinding mistakes. If something irl pops ups and I have to leave the game, I’d rather be able to shut down the PC and resume when I’m available instead of leaving it idling for a few hours, intentionally failing the mission, or worst of all actually ending up Alt+F4ing on a mission (bleh).
