I wouldn’t even mind it if it just added an ET or two alongside the targets in the main mission. ie a variant of Paris where you have to eliminate Victor, Dalia and The Blackhat.
With the H1 ones at least, they were usually woven into the story of the mission in some way (as The Blackhat was there to do work for Dalia) so they wouldn’t even really feel out of place either.
I think in cases like those, they were present at different events from the mission that the main story targets were killed. Black Hat, for example, was helping Dahlia during a different, earlier auction at a point a year or two prior to Showstopper.
Rather, I’d like more combinations of existing ETs like the Deceivers did. The Pharmacist and the Paparazzi, or the Chef and the Blackmailer, or the Forger and the Broker, who are indicated to be working together on a phone call the Broker makes. Things like that.
I’d love combinations like that too, especially The Forger and Broker, it’s just that Paris is really the only viable map to do more ET combinations since there were 9 ETs made for it. Outside of Paris, other combinations they could do are:
The Prince and The Twin in Sapienza
The Gunrunner and The Angel of Death in Marrakesh
The Warlord and The Food Critic in Bangkok
The Chameleon and The Bookkeeper in Colorado
The Appraiser and The Fugitive in Isle of Sgail
The Iconoclast and The Heartbreaker in Mendoza
I don’t think it would be a good idea to combine The Fixer with anyone or have a three target ET which is why I left out combinations involving The Ex-Dictator, The Surgeons, and The Procurers. I’m not sure how good an idea some of these listed combinations are either with the amount of side objectives you’d need to do. I’d say probably The Iconoclast and Heartbreaker or The Gunrunner and Angel of Death would work the best, at least gameplay-wise.
Also, if they could’ve still used Sean Bean, it would’ve been funny to get The Undying MKII which combines The Undying and The Undying Returns.
So Elusive Target Arcade is more of the same, but with escalation complications. Fortunately if IO Tweaks and expands upon it then it can become something great that adds longevity to the mode.
I played the contract that focused on HITMAN 2 Targets. Naturally this is because The Revolutionary remains as the only ET that left a stain on my suit collection and overall my pre existing knowledge of the maps and ET Location as well.
Suit Unlocks need to be addressed. So ET Rewards can be unlocked in the mode.
Complications should be optional objectives that don’t instafail. To make complications more enticing to complete the player should be awarded with Milestone Rewards. Complete 10 Optional Objectives and unlock the ICA Tactical Bathing Suit or something.
Those are my main two complaints with the Arcade since they are basically just Escalations but with ET stringed about.
ETs by themselves (Pick and choose any ET you want, in any order, without complications and replay them as many times as you wish)
ETs in batches, with complications (Basically the same as it currently is, still with the option to replay a failed attempt within 12 hours)
ETs randomly added to the main campaign missions (Playing World of Tomorrow, you need to kill Silvio, Francesca and…for example…The Prince. No restrictions, chose the difficulty and replay as many times as you wish)
Kill all ETs from a specific location (Pick one location, all ETs from that location need to be killed one after the other, using only the starting equipment you chose and death = start over) Unfortunately most locations in the trilogy have either one ET or no ETs at all (Mumbai)
I’m all for more replay value, for sure. I do wish that IOI would say something about what’s happening with this mode. It’s been over month now since they released the mode and there are still only 3 contracts/escalations/whatever to choose from. I don’t care how many or few complications there are, playing the same three things over and over is getting stale.
A statement from IOI indicating when they intend to release the next batch of content and what the anticipated cadence is would be really nice. As it is, the Elusive Target Arcade is just 3 little mission sets and that’s it.
My favorite moments remain those from doing a “kill all badies and only badies” run in Santa Fortuna. The complications for that ET are perfect, and since I can replay the dang thing [almost] whenever I like, I don’t feel any self-imposed pressure to fight my way up the leaderboard for a one-shot-only run.
Seriously. Do a “kill everyone but civilians” run in Colombia and tell me it’s not fun and exciting.
I would prefer, at the very least, that the insta-fail complications not be there. The others are bad enough, when all most of us want is to just replay ETs when we want to, but it’s super unfair that you can instantly fail, without dying yourself, and now you’re having to wait 12 hours to try again. If you mess up and kill yourself or just ruin your score, that’s one thing, but mistakenly killing a non-target in the Colombian one for example and it’s immediately over and now your waiting, it’s just irritating.
I know it’s been said a bunch before, but agreed with this.
I think the complications should be an optional obstacle to getting Silent Assassin (since failing one of them would remove your “Objectives Bonus” score). Right now it’s an all-out restriction on whether you can complete the mission or not, which, I’d say, to the average player is a lot more frustrating especially when you have 3 or 5 targets in a row to do.
I just want the fucking Signature Suit w/ Gloves (which should be the default suit, not an unlockable WTF). If IOI only improved ETA insofar as adding progression toward suit unlocks, I’d be alright with that.
