Elusive Target #4: THE POLITICIAN (Year 4, August 30th - September 9th 2024)

The fourth ET is also a legacy one…

Dame Barbara Elizabeth Keating

Briefing

The young Dame Barbara Keating, née Johnson, was from a modest working-class English background. Her father was a waiter at an expensive restaurant and unlike the rest of the fathers in the neighborhood, who wore overalls and worked on a factory line, Samuel Johnson left to work in a white shirt and a tuxedo. Seeing her father dressed up every morning and her mother’s glowing eyes as she served him his breakfast and brought him the paper was a source of pride to young Barbara. They may not have been better off than anybody else on the block - in fact, they often struggled due to her father’s heavy drinking - but in her esteem, they were still different.

Trivia

  • As with all new elusive targets, The Politician has a unique gameplay twist. In this case, the target has a perfect body double and it is 47’s job to decipher which is the target and which is the fake. Eliminating the fake, like with any non-target kill, will decrease your score and void the Silent Assassin rating.
    • As mentioned above, it is somewhat to the 9th elusive target in HITMAN™, as Owen Wagner had “Whitecap” with him. It is also very highly similar to The Twin, the 6th elusive target from HITMAN™ because Dylan had a body double with him at all times.
  • In the mission briefing, the person who is accusing Barbara is called Brith A. Nielsen, which is a reference to Britta Nielsen, who has stolen over 121 million Danish Crowns (18.207.990 Dollars), from the danish Social Agency. She is from Denmark, like IO Interactive.

I don’t restart and I botched this one first time around. Looking forward to another chance. Always nice to have a reason to visit Hawke’s Bay.

I remember bricking it before this one came up for the first time in H2 - still remains to this day the only ET in the WoA where you are 100% forced to start in a Hostile Area, and for #TeamNoRestarts that is a frightening prospect!

And then when actually starting the ET and trying to get a disguise, I remember that at least a couple of the beach guards move around as pairs who absolutely WILL NOT separate for an isolation and disguise-steal: they won’t split up for coins, weapon drops, or even being Sieker-ed!

“Get a disguise early and get a wrench”, will be my plan for the re-run.

Do you remember if we have Office starting point for this ET?
If so it can pretty much be done suit only.
Find yourself downstairs through the bunker and lure everybody in the garage.
There are enough crates to park all those NPCs in the main hall.

Mission done

I don’t think so, I’m fairly sure that the starting point was near the Beach Stash Point (that little wooden structure thing) only, or maybe there was also the choice of the ‘traditional’ Boat start, but I don’t think starting inside the house is an option if I remember correctly.

Scary stuff!

I don’t remember too much from this ET but rewatching my old run has jogged my memory a bit.

I don’t think I had a plan then other than “hehe sneaky santa kill with Piton”. Nearly got spotted doing that, but I got out lucky and with SA.
Isn’t there an easy kill on the balcony, where you can loosen a gas lamp? I don’t think I’m gonna do that. Seems too cheap.

If I remember correctly you’ll kill a non-target if you’ll just let events flow on it’s own.
You’ll need to get rid of somebody to avoid that. Again, if I remember correctly

I really love the politician, might be my second favorite elusive ever. To celebrate her return id like to challenge myself a bit.

I missed this target on H2 so I’m looking forward to having a shot at it.

You have to distract the bodyguard for that, it will also kill him you don’t.

It seems you use the mobile version of the wiki so here is the full breifing:

The young Dame Barbara Keating, née Johnson, was from a modest working-class English background. Her father was a waiter at an expensive restaurant and unlike rest of the fathers in the neighborhood, who wore overalls and worked on a factory line, Samuel Johnson left to work in a white shirt and a tuxedo. Seeing her father dressed up every morning and her mother’s glowing eyes as she served him his breakfast and brought him the paper was a source of pride to young Barbara. They may not have been better off than anybody else on the block - in fact they often struggled due to her father’s heavy drinking - but in her esteem, they were still different.

Barbara was a stunning beauty, and at the age of 18 she caught the eye of a visiting business man, Robert Keating, who was 25 years older than her and based halfway around the world in New Zealand. They married a few years later and when Keating had a heart attack in bed, Barbara sidelined Keating’s family and took control of her late husband’s business interests. A tough and ruthless business woman, Barbara Keating built an empire, often leaving a fair bit of wreckage in her slipstream.

Much later, she made a foray into politics and was eventually appointed Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs in her adopted homeland, before being given the honorary title Dame Barbara by the queen.

At the height of her powers, however, the newly-minted Dame became engulfed in a scandal and was forced to step down from her post. A charity she represented benefitting the homeless was found to have funneled donations into Dame Barbara’s own offshore holdings. To minimize the damage to herself, she drew on tabloid contacts and orchestrated an elaborate smear campaign against the director of the charity, a renowned but fragile poet and social organizer by the name of Jacqueline Vicar. The director was depicted as a blackmailer and conspirator, who aimed to entrap Dame Barbara in a scheme to pay off the mounting costs of Vicar’s own private vices. Shortly thereafter, the director was invloved in a conspicuously timed car accident, offically (and publicly) considered a suicide.

Now a somewhat more paranoid (and significantly more cautious) Dame Barbara is preparing for her political comeback, with help from an uncanny body double.

I got the same unfortunate fate. It was my first et so I wasn’t as experienced. I ended up raging and shooting her in public (near guards) and getting shit to death.

This et felt the closest to a bonus mission (apart from The Undying, never played it though), mostly because of its main mission. So I really hope it gets added permanently sometime in the future.

Just to let you know I meant to write “shot to death” so that was an accident.

Haha, yeah that was very clear, just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to score an easy goal with that typo!

This is exactly what I did with my first ever ET, which was “The Bad Boy.” He just sat there playing video games and I wasn’t that experienced with Hitman yet, so I just got frustrated and shot him in the head from the kitchen and ran. Got gunned down in the street.

I don’t remember much of this ET except that she has CICADA Security and atleast one of them in a Stachi Kurt, so that’s a plus.

Is @Urben gonna do the wrecking ball kill again or do something new this time around? :eyes:
