Elusive Target #15: THE RAGE (Year 4: May 3 - May 13 2024)

Phew! I was thinking I’d missed a story opportunity there.

I’m almost done with capturing the main scenes, but I’ve got a few more to capture. In particular a couple of kill scenes. Sadly my Xbox has been really playing up with audio sync issues and I’ve re-captured a number of scenes too many times now to bother doing them again. There are some random very short silences on occasion and some clips are up to 2300 ms out of sync. I’ve compensated for the sync issues this using the video editor, but when they’re spliced together I’m getting a weird audio pause between some scenes. Grr!

Very, veeery lazy ET here.

Miniscule route, 1 super simple opportunity. Street guard disguise lets you be in the target area but doesn’t allow you to enter, then you’re trespassing- what the actual heck. After 5 minutes all hype from the briefing is gone.

Either IOI has committed 99% of their resources to the 007 project and monthly roadmaps are created by 1st year computer science interns or they fired all people who made Hitman 2 such a fantastic game, because what we are getting here (and every season in general) is super low effort content compared to what we used to get while H2 was still being supported.

I really hope they’ll revive this game for its Steam release.

BTW it’s funny that people flag posts they disagree with.

I was amazed at not only how easy was it to get to him despite having a guard escort, but it’s really easy to set up one of the safest kills I’ve seen for an ET. I thought the stuff with the email would put him in a more interesting route, but it’s really there so you can get to him without going into the building he’s in. But…you can still easily get into that building, without a disguise, and set up a surefire way of taking him out.

This might be one of the easiest SA/SO ET’s to date. At most there’s one guard in the way and I’m sure you could even game him away for an SA/SO/No KO run. Very few actual moving parts to consider when it comes to timing.

Sneakily stole the nearby propane flask for an easy explosion kill. He should send in his bodyguards first next time

Flagging your post is a bit too far, indeed. The forum is supposed to be welcoming to all opinions.

But I would still have to disagree with you.
There is genuine care and craft in this ET, and we shouldn’t dismiss it so easily.

As an exemple.
The most obvious kill opportunity is to poison the target’s drug.
As a consequence and for everyone playing with default loadout or as a part of #TeamNoRestart, the one poison vial in the level was slighlty moved to be in the line of sights of more NPCs and the main researcher in the lab was made an enforcer to both the researcher disguise and the block guard disguise. All to make the retrieving of the poison a bit of a challenge.
To smooth some other part of the opportunity they added a fuse box in the basement stairs.

I feel like this ET was made with the gimmick of a truely impenetrable area where your movement are really limited, forcing you to take secondary routes and having to deal with more enforcers and NPCs or having to find a way to lure the target away.

That’s why you have two more guards on the apartment building roof, a researcher and a block guard in the first floor corridor in the block and almost all seing enforcers in the ring and arcade.
You even have a mirror in the backroom of the arcade to catch you off guard and be compromised by your own reflection.
If you accept the gimmick and goes with it, it’s a relatively pleasant experience. It’s just it’s a gimmick mission, we can’t have the same type and quantity of possibilities, if there was the gimmick would have been lost.
We don’t really have another mission of this kind in the game and I appreciated it because of that.

It’s true that the fact that guards do not let their own pass could have been better presented. I think everyone blew their cover at least once the first time around.
I feel like you are not even supposed to even try to pass them, just quickly dismiss the possibility and improvise as a consequence.
They could have disabled the block guard entry point honestly.
Also they should have disabled the arcade smuggle point, it’s bugged)

(Clemens_IOI, could it be possible to have an IOI Insider Extra about Elusive Targets design ? Like to know how they are designed, the gimmick behind them, what the team allow themself to do that they wouldn’t in a main mission…)

This mirror’s a funny thing, when I saw it I immediately understood its purpose (i.e. what you said) only for the target and his bodyguard to come in a minute later and not see me hiding behind the door.

The main reason I went that harsh on this ET was that unlike the Collector or the Serial Killer it’s way too simple - it’s a kind of mission you forget about after a week. I probably wouldn’t lie saying that the area of interest is smaller than in most contracts/escalations - the target roams around the arcade and the entrance to the block and that’s it. If you want you can drag him out to the laundry, but he won’t stay there for long or even go upstairs (shouldn’t money matters be discussed in private?).

Feels super claustrophobic, Absolution style. And speaking of Absolution, I really wish you could confront the medium weight champion on the ring.

ETs are overrated and hyped to an unbelievable extreme IMHO. I’ll take on extra map over 20 ETs.

I’d even take a Ducky Baller over X amount of ETs.

A good contract beats any ET IMHO. Unpopular opinion

I think it was one of those focus on an area what doesn’t see much use (honestly I forget the Arcade can be used as way to get to Hush) and sadly that area was just a bit too limited for them to do anything particularly interesting

If they did it all on the roof-tops by removing the drones and adding more security on the buildings surrounding the main one that could of worked alot better.

Restarted and experimented a fair amount with this one. Lots of respect to Team No Restarts but that’s not how I gain enjoyment from ETs.

Anyway once I figured out that disguises and trespassing areas were intentionally fudged, I decided to avoid knocking guys out and trying to blend in. It’s true that starting as the block guard is the “best” disguise (just don’t leave the block or they won’t let you back in), but after figuring the rules out I decided to start on the balcony with my gaudy golden suit.

Worked my way to the propane tank on one of the balconies on the block, then all the way back down to street level.

Threw the propane tank into the corner of the area of the plaza where homeboy goes after the scripted event.

Made such scripted event happen. Looked at homegirl’s laptop which oddly displayed an email from Zoe Washington to the Master of Ceremonies.

Followed Mister Man around till he blew himself up. Smoking kills, guys!

This ET kinda sucked but in theory I do like the idea of making restricted areas harder to get into. There were just too many NPC (guard and civilian) sight lines to fuck with, and I got frustrated. Maybe I’ll go for something even wackier on my alt account.

By the way, the suit with the hat from last month’s Colorado ET is amazing for this level.

It’s not my best work, due to struggling with the Xbox DVR native capture tool messing up so often. So I hope it doesn’t distract too much and you are able to enjoy his interesting story and dialogue.

Lured him out with the email. Placed a coin on the apartment window sill so he would come in. Waited in the hallway and Sieker’d his bodyguard who proceeded to panic. Fortunately, he didn’t make me but he didn’t go vomit until Rage was already coming back. I held him up in the hallway and decided to just have the fight there. Unfortunately, I forgot I was still carrying my briefcase and KO’d him immediately. Dragged him back into the apartment, snapped his neck and hid the body.

Not elegant but still SASO.

Note that for Hitman III, some of the voice acting was done off site because of COVID-19. I don’t know if this is an issue now that most are double vaxxed.

That’s very cool. Did the EMP set off the electrical box on the wall, setting off a spark, or did the pulse itself set off the propane flask?

Ok, how the hell do you trigger the meeting? I go to the room where the laptop is and it does not prompt me to do anything. Is the woman who is the dealer supposed to go there first? If so, where is she and how do I make her go there?

Done. Very difficult and risky for a suit only, gloves only purist like me. Not enough places to hide the bodies I needed to to try certain things, and I can’t dump the body of the target into the same hiding place as a subdued NPC (it’s a thing with me), and that left me with few options. I had to tranquilizer his bodyguard out of view, though his body was found and revived almost right away, but it gave me some distance between them, allowing me to fiber wire the prick and hide his body in a dumpster. Something went wrong with the game at that moment, as Diana did not say anything about the target dying, and I couldn’t put away the fiber wire for several seconds, and had to drop it to get it to do anything. Then the game unclenched and I walked to the exit. That’s 15 SA ETs now, practically perfect executions for my standards, although I hardly think the Liability counts since you can’t play it in a gloved outfit, but beyond that.

Seems the original codename for this ET was “The Crusher” which is his nickname in-game.
When finding out the leaks of this one, I don’t ever remember “Crusher” being mentioned.

Ooopsie in the credits.

It’s his nick name, he’s Sully “Crusher” Bowden. But it’s not his ICA codename, which is “The Rage”. I’m guessing someone just confused the nickname and the codename.
