Did Hitman invent the concept of modern-day ninjas with guns, or did they get it from a movie?

I always found the ninjas in Hitman 2 to be so cool. Their character design and outfits are so awesome, and the way they all use silenced SMGs because they are silent ninjas. I wonder if there is concept art for them and I’ve been wondering if this concept was lifted from some other media like a movie, or if they were an original concept. I would love to see that movie if they are

The concept of historical soldiers (knights, vikings, ninjas, etc.) with modern weapons has been a thing in pop culture for a while. Here’s something that might interest you though.

I had an issue of ‘Spirit of Ninja’ from November 1986 as a child. One article it had was about Swords vs Machine Guns or Ninjas vs Terrorists. I recall a pic where there was a “ninja” holding a sword in one hand and crossed the other hand holding an Uzi.

Maybe I still have that somewhere and can read it. But ever since I’ve seen that I’ve always thought of Ninjas having or using uzis… However, silenced SMGs would be optimal.

But as for the origin of Ninjas+SMGs… :man_shrugging:

Ninja have been using guns since guns were invented. It’s not a modern concept.

The cover of that issue looks so goofy, who told him to make that face?
