CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS, Romania (Mission #6) - Location Discussion

47 is actually from…TRANSYLVANIA!!

I left it a few days and gave this a replay, this time:

  • Professional instead of Master
  • “Outside” start

Suddenly I figured out how to navigate the train roof (When I was playing it first times it seemed to make no sense how to determine when you could go down the sides and go across etc), and with the reduced enforcers of Professional mode it all felt way easier and shorter; also I originally missed the Commander/Conductor disguise, which made the section after it a lot harder.

Still tho, when I attempt a SASO I’m not sure how to get past a middle section of the train where a guard is sleeping in a booth next to a disguise, it seems the only way through is to put on the disguise or shoot your way through

I guess I’d say I hate it slightly less. I’d give it a 2.8/10 as a map now, instead of 2.

If they were desperate for an escalation or something they could probably just focus on the last quarter of the train where the office part begins (and populate the Constant’s carriage with a couple civilians and guards), would be good to get something else out of this letdown

Yeah, I got stuck on that one for a bit as well. When you exit the booth, you can actually use the window in the corridor to get out again. It´s easy to miss when dealing with the enforcer´s attention.

The section afterwards is actually easy as you can use a fuse cell. But walking through with the Commando Leader disguise is just so much cooler :joy:

I agree they should´ve utilized the office section more. It was more fun figuring how to get through (SASO), plus the music and atmostphere there is great.

Now we know why he doesn’t age that much throughout the games. He’s a vampire :stuck_out_tongue:

it’s a pretty easy saso in professional imo. i did it in 3 reloads and i’m not anywhere near a world-class player or anything.

if it’s the bit i’m thinking of, with two to three guards milling about outside the room, you can sneak out of that cabin and straight out of the window on the opposite side while a head is turned. the detection meter won’t even get halfway.

Never has a Hitman level felt so much like it was designed by the same outsourced team who did the Deus Ex 3 boss fights.

Just as the turtleneck suit from the ICA missions. Damn, I need that suit! Its such a great looking unlock and I would love to roam around in it. :frowning:

This so much. People who said HItman needs to go back to that form make me wonder if they forgett that any Hitman game yet had an overarching story. Even contracts pulled a Tomb Raider V and told a story behind the not connected hits. And Season 1 really nailed that connection, the whole “its connected but we dont see how”.

off-topic, but i need the ninja outfit. :ninja:

All of the cool suits make me wish they would have gone the Absolution way and give us suits and items when we exit the mission with them. Would have been cool.

You probably know this, but there are recorded npc reactions to it, so they have to give it to us at one point or another :persevere:

The Mumbai ones are absolute gold… https://www.reddit.com/r/HiTMAN/comments/ihl28r/ninja_47_visits_mumbai_unique_ninja_dialogue/

Everyone’s pissing on the level, but I actually loved it :man_shrugging::sunglasses:

There is something awesome about 47 building and iterating over his disguise rank as he goes deeper and deeper into the train and then reaches Edwards having tried them all on and having everyone fooled.

Edwards reaction to 47 appearing is also commendable, I can’t see 47 killing him at all after that. But erasing the memory - definitely canon.

I wouldn’t even call this a mission. Just a final segment of the game. Wish they added 6 real maps then this final segment. What a shame…

Are there two separate guard types named “Providence security guard”? The first and last guards you encounter, that is. The last ones with the suit could have as well been called “bodyguards”.

This level felt like the Splinter Cell train level. Strange, because I enjoyed that for Splinter Cell, but for Hitman? Really thought this last mission was a weak entry. That said, enjoyed the story overall for Hitman 3 and thought the ending was good, but the mission itself was complete trash.

I agree it kinda feels like there’s “5.5 missions” in the game, but I like the final level a lot. I wouldn’t want any more in that same vein, but it’s a great final mission:

  • It’s a way better revenge mission than the one in Blood Money, that one was just a throwaway bonus.
  • The dream scene with all the targets is priceless. Those are only the official targets for the whole trilogy? What a crowd!
  • The moving train reveal is cool. I suppose the “Carpathian Mountains” bit is an interesting bait-and-switch. Thought it was going to be the asylum, did ya?
  • I agree there’s not much leeway, but playing it SASO is very fun, probably more so than some other maps.
  • They redid the trick where the target basically turns his back to you and says “do your thing”. I don’t remember any target doing that since the PS exclusive missions in H1. It’s fitting for Edwards. He knows he’s not getting out of this one.
  • The outdoor part is actually quite well done if you take the time to look at it.
  • If you use instinct at the start of the mission, you see a teeny tiny red dot. The more you move forward, the bigger it gets. It’s symbolism for monomania… or something.
  • You move from the caboose as the underdog and go up in ranks with disguises all the way to the big honcho at the front. Hey, it’s like Snowpiercer, the game!

I loved this map as an ending level. I avoided spoilers, so it was a pretty cool surprise. It’s just a bit dissapointing that we effectively got 5 replayable levels. If there was one more sandbox level and this one was called “Epilogue” or something like that, the reactions in this thread would probably look quite different.
Still, all 5 maps are some of the best in the trilogy.

I liked the idea of this map, just wish it had less guard carriages and more distinct ones. Like Snowpiercer.

Having gone through this map three times now, I have to say my last run-through was the most “tense”. The first time I killed everyone who got in my way and did a fairly minimal amount of sneaking. Every disguise was used at least once. Second time through was pretty much just for challenges I’d missed the first time through. Third time I attempted to do without changing disguises and without knocking anyone out. It took quite a lot longer but it was fun! I don’t know if I need to replay this map at all anymore unless they add something to it like and ET but I’m not disappointed by it at all.

There´s Providence Guard, Providence Elite Guard, and Providence Commando iirc the names.
