I’ve tried Shadows, not completed it though. Yeah, the game that received the most hate, even before its release!!!
The worldbuilding seems beautiful. The gameplay is decent as well.
The game received a lot of controversy due to Yasuke. And I feel the character was not really necessary. If we can have a successful game like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag with only one playable character, Edward Kenway, Ubisoft could have easily completed the game using Naoe along, without making Yasuke a playable character.
Some articles suggest that Ubisoft included the black character just to make people prefer the female character instead. Does it make sense? I think so…

I’m prepared for the long opener, AC3 and Odyssey did that too. And I love the Animus and First Civilization aspects of the game; it was learning about those things when researching the franchise, combined with the Ancient Greek aesthetic of Odyssey, that convinced me to get into the series. I played all of them up to Syndicate then the game changed and took a turn for the worse to me and i got off that train.
They were apparently going to go back to a more traditional recipe but im not feeling this one either…
