I, too, would rather be stranded in the woods. That said, the odds still aren’t in your favour! Without a compass or any trail markings, it very likely wouldn’t be as easy as just walking one direction until you hit a road. If you’re lucky, maybe, but more than likely you’d just eventually die of starvation, dehydration or pneumonia.
However, let’s do a reversal. Where would you least like to be stranded?
Most forests that exist now, when not actual rainforest or jungle, are surrounded by human habitation. Set off in a direction, you are eventually going to exit the woods, with a high probability of coming out near a town or small city. As someone who spent much of his childhood in various forests, at least in the US, that is how it works. The issue is whether you will tire or injure yourself before you get out, which is usually what most people lost in the woods get, aside from going in circles or random directions. But if you can stay alive and keep going in the same direction, within a week at most for even the largest US forest, you’re gonna come out somewhere, or come across human development.
You say that, but there’s a shit ton of people who have died trying to just walk out of the woods when they got lost. It’s very possible that the distance you need to clear will be too much for what you can handle, or you’ll hit an immovable obstacle like a cliff or a wide stream, and you’ll just die.
I said that. If you can hang in enough to keep going, and if exposure or you having an accident like breaking a bone stumbling or something, and if you keep going steadily straight and not zig-zagging or unknown fly going in a circle and whatnot.
Hard to say between the desert or in space. Dying from heat, thirst and starvation sounds the most severe to me. I have no idea how to fly a space ship so the same fate can happen there too, maybe without the heat.
I think space would be the least worse option. The desert would be the worse. It takes at least a week to die of thirst. if I was in space and my suit or ship became compromised, I’d die instantly and at least if I was someplace interesting I’d have a beautiful view in my last moment.
I chose space but it’s situational. Stranded on the International Space Station? Piece of cake. Russia, Japan, China, the U.S., or somewhere will eventually send a capsule up and I’ll be fine. There’s enough food, water, and oxygen up there to last a long time.
Stranded in just a space suit though? Presumably adrift? That’s just guaranteed death - and probably a pretty unpleasant one.
Every other choice their is at least a chance of rescue even if I were to just sit still and not move at all.
The Woods would… seem to have the highest probability of survival. It is not completely safe due to cliffs and steep inclines with any manner of questionable footing. See a vid where a couple of guys snuck into Bohemian Grove. The part where they’re trying to walk along a hill with a bunch of fallen trees is a bit intense. Or the occasional river one might have to cross. Along the banks might be tree roots where you might get your feet tangled (I can see how this could happen having gone looking for a fishing spot with my dad many years ago in a nearby woods near a river). So avoiding waterways might be best unless it’s on the shore of a stream where you might be able to get a drink. Avoid deep and/or rushing water if at all possible. If it’s in your path then your path (probably) just changed. Wild animals could also be a concern. Assuming it’s in the US - bears and mountain lions (maybe even bobcats) could be a potential danger. Not sure about wolves…
Jungle? Too dangerous with all the accouterments of the woods x5 with guaranteed dangerous animals in both land and water.
Desert? Too hot with little to no water. But I think I’d prefer it to a jungle.
Sea/Ocean? I dunno. Am I in a raft? On a boat or yacht? Am I in a life jacket floating adrift? I’m not forced to swim am I? Do I even know how to swim (I’ve never swam before). Given the southern US just had a couple of hurricanes - is there a storm?
Space? Again, situational. So I’d have to consider how I got there. The most likely scenario would be a transportation vessel… I’m thinking of that sub that was said to implode while on a trip to see the Titanic. Maybe a small bit of space debris traveling at some insanely high rate of speed damaged a thruster or some other vital instrument. Hopefully, the vessel can send out a distress signal. If not then it’s a matter of waiting to die… If we aren’t looked for first since we didn’t arrive to where we were going.
Snowy mountains… Could be okay, or could be terrible. Like that flight that crashed and people had to resort to cannibalism. There is also the possibility of crevasses to fall into and be wedged.
One thing that wasn’t mentioned is a cave. Do I have a source of light? Or perhaps that will only last for so long before I’m in total darkness. I think I’d prefer being stranded at sea than being lost in a cave.
The most important thing being decided in the US election: whether the state of Maine should change its state flag or not. Keep the old blue design, or go with the off white tree design? I really like the new one personally.
Honestly i think it wouldn’t hurt to give tbe new one a go, having the same dark blue as so many other states is annoying and makes it difficult to spot in a row.
I went for the old one, mainly cause I’m a sucker for coats of arms in flags, but it could certainly use a touch-up with regards to the blue background. The new design is definitely unique and not bad at all, but doesn’t make me think of Maine at all. I would’ve guessed Oregon or Washington.
I enjoy the games for the most part but I never really liked the CGI movies. I’m also not particularly attached to the heros to be honest. Personally I think there’s real potential if they switched it up by removing the heros and instead, focusing on the villains of the series - like Jack Baker, Alcina Dimitrescu, Karl Heisenberg, ect, ect. Maybe set a story in a different universe so it doesn’t necessarily have to be tied to the games and we just watch them go about thier evil deeds and such.
That’s how they made the 1st live-action movie, no? I actually enjoyed it, there’s little to no connection to the game series except that the underground lab was set in Racoon City. But we know how it went down for the sequels. Despite more characters from the games were introduced, they don’t necessarily make the movies better, especially when plots in later entries just went out of control.
Edit: never mind. I missed your first paragraph about the villains.
Going to vote third party. I don’t agree with Luthor (whose name is spelled with an O nor an E) or his “Kill Superman Policy” and I don’t like how Fisk is so against the protections for the blind listed under the Disabilities Act.
