Yeah, we tend to do stuff like that. We take things that have existed and been called by a certain title longer than we have been a country, turn our noses up at it, give the rest of the world the middle finger, then call it what we want because “we have all the guns and the money.”
Red Skull said it best near the end of Captain America: The First Avenger -
“Arrogance may not be a uniquely American trait, but I must say, you do it better than anyone.”
It’s sad when a ultra-Nazi’s critique of a country is accurate.
I’m from Chicago originally, so I have to go with a good Deep Dish (I would never fold a piece of pizza…what the heck is that about?). But I have to leave this here:
Favorite TV villain protagonist or anti-hero from the last 20 years
Tony Soprano - The Sopranos
Vic Mackey - The Shield
Jack Bauer - 24
Dexter Morgan - Dexter
Walter White - Breaking Bad
Raymond Reddington - The Blacklist

All these guys are either anti-heroes, or outright villain protagonists.
On this, it’s super close, but I gotta go with Raymond Reddington. The voice, the hat, the style, he’s to other crime bosses what Agent 47 is to assassins, and is the sole consistently entertaining thing about his series, the rest of which is hit or miss.
I had to vote for Walter White as I haven’t seen any of the other ones. Pretty sure my wife would vote for Dexter though. I seem to recall her liking that show.
Definitely seasons 4 and 7. Trinity and Issac Sirko are the two most threatening and badass enemies Dexter had ever faced, and you actually care about what they are doing, not just in relation to how Dexter is gonna take them out.
