Year 4, The Undying returns (Second run: October 18 - November 10 2024)

They’re a bit different, the snail is proximity based and has a distraction effect, so it can sometimes attract and KO the wrong people if you throw it. The egg is more similar to a chloroform flask that’s legal to throw.

That’s actually a really good point. I keep forgetting you can use the flask as a grenade essentially (a fact that eluded me until Freelancer).

Or you could’ve…not make the joke. Wasn’t really relevant to the conversation, and it felt more like trying to bait me. Forgive me for missing the funny part where we all laugh.

I am amazing at parties.

The idea was that it was so obvious that that was the position that I would take, and that I knew what position you’d take, that it was supposed to be too ridiculous to be serious.

Can you use the blue egg to poison food, drinks, and air conditioners?

Does it lock onto heads when thrown?

If no to either, those would be differences from the chloroform flask.

Just checked and it can lock on to npcs but it can’t be used to poison food or ventilation systems

AFAIK another thing you can do with chloroform but not the egg is to place it, then shoot it to trigger the poison cloud from afar (although it’s generally not practical).

Oooh that’s a good one.

I think this is a little bit over exaggerating to be fair? If IOI did add this type of weapon, I wouldn’t be fussed either way

Each to their own opinion obviously

The Berlin Egg Hunt version of the egg locks on. Didn’t have the time to play Hitman today, so not sure if that’s still the case in the unlockable version (but probably yes?).

Ok here’s another question as I’m away from my games: does the chloroform flask burst open and sedate when dropped from inventory?

Yup.

However the August 2023 patch also made it illegal to drop, as per the patch notes:

Chloroform Ban
We’ve made dropping a chloroform flask an illegal action. This was deemed to be a little too overpowered, especially during Showdown missions.

And yet seven months later, they gave us the Blue Egg as an unlock. Which is legal to drop. I guess its not in Freelancer, so they don’t care…

Not exactly surprising. Let’s be honest: if there’s one thing the Hitman series has lacked over the years, it’s consistency.

Thank you thank you thank you. Thousands of hours in, I’m still learning all the rules.

To be fair very few people are going to use this drop-egg-drop-explosive tactic, and it seems way too difficult to program to fix, but yeah… weird shit, Hitman.

At last - The Undying ET, seems like a clever guy. He made some really good points, so I came up with this.

I don’t like all these silly unlocks with cartonish look. I hoped that they at last add this Chromoroform flask which works exacly that same, and it was since Silent Assassin. I’m pretty disappointed. Cool we have a throwable seducive tool, but It wasn’t was I expected.

I’m personally fine with goofy unlocks, but I do prefer serious unlocks.

Maybe we can get a chloroform flask as an unlock too eventually.

I would like a chloroform soaked rag as an unlock. It could be a single-use item or you could “recharge” it with a flask but it would only work with physical contact (like a subdue action now) and it would always be non-lethal to keep it from being too over-powered.

That’s pretty much what sedative syringes are, mechanically - and as it would take a whole new animation to add to 47 for a single item I don’t think we’ll ever see something like this :x

Just realised IO goofed in their Launch Trailer for The Undying Returns (2024).

They used the audio of 47 and Mark Faba talking in the meeting room about the different ways 47 could kill him. When he’s talking about putting emetic poison in the coffee so he can drown him, we see these shots of 47 poisoning the glass and with Mark sitting in front of it. Only it has red smoke coming from the glass. Red smoke = lethal poison, not emetic.
