Watch Dogs series

And that’s Bloodline done! At least the main missions.

Yeah, this is definitely the best story of Legion.
You’ve got investment in characters, they have a deep history that’s explored, there’s room for callbacks and interesting relationships and character foils.
The main game Legion cast needs something deeper than a job and a voice. Maybe they should just focus on “here’s 4-6 different protagonists you can choose from, each gets special different cutscenes in the game” encouraging replayability that way.

Blending the tones of Watch Dogs 1 and 2 seemed like a weird and risky move but they jived really well together!

Love how much the writers played with fan-favourite lore and characters, revising things like Aiden’s trauma, Wrench’s goofy-but-with-purpose hacker persona (and just normal guy Reggie under the mask).
Marcus gets a bit of time to shine in the phone messages at the Hideout, plus the awesome audio-only return in Wrench’s final side mission. Wow, that felt like it was content ripped straight out of Watch Dogs 2. Just two hacker bros doing a small good deed, and acting like total fools, fanboying over Jimmy Siska and his new absurd London movie.
Even Jordi Chin makes an appearance (also only in audio) which is super neat!

Haven’t finished Aiden’s side missions yet, but I’ll get to those in the coming weeks with the Assassin’s content coming out with more stuff.

And WOW that was a hard final battle, even on normal. You gotta kill the boss all in one go, with waves of enemies and robots to contend with. Also I think my game bugged and reset my loadout to the default Assault Rifle and Shotgun, so the 2nd phase was hell… you can only hit him from the front there, and there’s barely any cover.

I lost count of how many times I died trying to finish that last part off. All in all, though, stellar DLC for the game. Back to farming all the data points now I guess.

The Skye Larsen mission in Bloodline is indeed a blend of horror genre and callback of the first WD!

Both Jackson’s old place and the tunnel to Pawnee resemble much to their first game counterpart. Some old wrecks of Chicago PD petrol car as well, probably to show how usual he got involved with police chases.

I was surprised by this section and Nicole Pearce’s appearance. Well except she now bares a generic NPC face but with her original outfit, hairstyle, and voice. And then there’s a little puzzle segment in the 3rd part where Jackson must find a way to reach higher point. I can’t quite understand why it’s there, perhaps it’s another homage to other game.

But overall, I enjoy the mission quite much! It’s my favorite part of Bloodline.

Update 5.5 patch notes via here

DedSec, it’s time for Title Update 5.5! We’re releasing the patch on all platforms tomorrow, Tuesday, August 24th at 6 AM PST, 9 AM EST, 2 PM UTC, 3 PM CEST.
This update includes the Resistance Mode, our newest HVC Darcy and the Assassin’s Creed crossover, as well as the fan favorite Invasion and Extraction PVP modes. Additionally, TU5.5 brings changes as well as updates to Watch Dogs: Legion of the Dead and adds the game mode to all platforms! Of course, we also have several quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.

New game mode : Resistance Mode
Step into a challenging new way to experience Legion’s campaign, where:

  • Almost all enemies are Elite and use their special gadget more often
  • Max ammunition is significantly reduced
  • Enemies detect you much faster
  • Albion will detect and recognize DedSec in the open world if you get too close
  • Albion Checkpoints will detect DedSec and trigger an Albion pursuit
  • Albion has trapped some Tech Points around London. Collecting “TRAPPED” Tech Points will trigger an Albion pursuit
  • Tech Tree economy is rebalanced, with the strongest upgrades costing more Tech Points

New game mode: Invasion
The fan-favorite Invasion PvP mode is back in Watch Dogs: Legion, and with Play as Anyone it’s been upgraded to the next level.
As you know from Watch Dogs games, Invaders will attempt to complete the download on Search team members. In Watch Dogs: Legion, Invaders have access to more tools of deception, including the ability to swap to other Operatives in the world to avoid being detected. The Search team will need to use their whole arsenal of weapons, abilities, and tools in the environment, to prevent the download from finishing.

New game mode: Extraction
Another addition to TU5.5 is our third PvP mode, Extraction, Watch Dogs: Legion’s take on Capture-The Flag. A 4 player Free-For-All where you obtain crypto drives and race across the city to upload the data, while other players will try to stop you at all costs.

New crossover event: Assassin’s Creed

  • Two new single-player missions
  • Two new world missions.
  • Season Pass content : New High Value Character – Darcy

Abilities, Gadget and Weapons :

  • Hidden Blade

The iconic Assassin weapon. Improves melee and perform takedowns from any angle

  • Eagle Drone

  • Assassin Training (Passive)

Avoid detection for longer while in stealth, and take less weapon damage while sprinting

  • AR Disguise (Gadget)

Assume the look of a soldier with access to restricted locations. Also applies to nearby allies in multiplayer

  • Assassin’s Gun

A discreet Brotherhood pistol that fires a single high damage shot. Automatically reloads while holstered

  • Assassin’s Dart Gun

A concealed dart gun that causes human targets to go berserk. Automatically reloads while holstered

I didn’t really need a reason to play the campaign again, but Ok!

This seems like a hefty update! Plenty of stuff added to the game. Hopefully this will freshen up the game in terms of both single player and online.

This sounds pretty neat! It appears to be a return of the first game’s Online Decryption, except it’s now a free-for-all mode, instead of 2 teams of players. At first, the “Extraction” term made me think of something like escorting VIP to an extraction point. Guess I’m wrong.

Ohh… this also sounds cool! It probably means the frontal one-hit takedown from previous games return. Still hard to tell if it’s lethal or not. So far, every melee weapon in Legion is non lethal blunt weapon. Even our most beloved fiber wire from professional hitman operatives isn’t lethal, either.

I wonder, with such gadget, it most likely be timed just like other gadgets. But will it not raise suspicion meter? Normally playing as enemy soldier type operatives still risk a chance of blowing cover. If it still will, then the conventional AR Cloak is probably still a better choice.

Damn, Mina really doesn’t get that much love from Ubisoft like other hero operatives, do she?

Hopefully they will add an F button to pay the fallen some respect! (Joke aside though, it’s pretty neat.)

This is a good addition. My days of manually managing saves via USB will soon be over! Yay!

This also seems nice. Previously they only display when you choose to view one operative on the map. Spawning near enemy locations can also make an impression of scouting, which may gives more sense of team cooperation.

Loved it in WD2, though I worry it will be too different. Unless I’m mistaken you can no longer hide in cars in WDL, right?

Hiding in cars is no longer a thing yeah.

And while this is part of the online mode, with a ‘team’ hunting you down, it seems like it could be a fun twist.
Swap NPCs in the street to avoid pursuers, hide in plain sight as always.

Still a bit annoyed it’s not the classic Invasion I came to love from WD1 and 2, but I’m willing to try it out, maybe.

So the main menu’s been completely redesigned. Love the new look, showcasing the key art of each mode.
the other one was just pretty bland in comparison. (Ooh wow a building with a hologram on it – not even Albion at that)

That’s an interesting looking outfit! Although I have no doubt it is a premium content that requires microtransaction. You can tell by whether it glows or not.

It does work thought :eyes:

Strangely, when I checked the Resistance Mode achievement from my profile, it was already complete. But I will probably play the mode at some point regardless.

Resistance mode is harder, I’ll give it that. I started a new campaign, got through the initial bits where I deal with the bombs at the beginning, select my three operatives, go through the tutorials on fighting and stuff, and got out into the world. I recruited Wrench and Aiden right off the bat and went to get some data points to upgrade my tech and some drone saw me, shot two bullets, and I died. I had completely forgotten about that permadeath thing!

Fortunately, I was just playing one of the 3 initial starting characters so it wasn’t anyone particularly important. It does completely remove the benefit of having a doctor on the team though since no one goes to the hospital - they just die. Also, the checkpoints are all hostile and you can get spotted just walking down the street. It’s not bad, but it is more difficult.

Well, you can still go to the hospital or get arrested, just don’t die from a bullet or explosion.
Melee, Fall damage, I think hit by a car? Are all ways you can still get that ‘temporarily inactive’ status.

I would guess that’s probably true. I didn’t play it long enough last night to really experiment with it and I just got shot at the one time. Still, it’s an interesting additional I think. I didn’t find the assassin’s creed part yet so I can’t comment on that still.

I just finished the two Assassin’s Creed Missions. What a nice little batch of free content!

The Synchronization mission was the weaker of the two, with it just being a “reach sync point, complete 3 missions, reach another sync, complete 3 missions”. The lack of a final piece to that format was a bit disappointing.
I do enjoy how it made fun of Ubisoft’s well-worn ‘Reveal Map Towers’ trope… “Ooh, you just unlocked a bunch of icons on a map! Don’t you feel proud?!”

The ‘Enter the Assassins’ mission is where this new content really shines. It’s essentially Darcy’s big Dedsec recruitment mission.
There’s a bunch of new dialogue, a couple cutscenes, some nice tying in of AC lore (as far as I can tell – I’ve only got general knowledge) and was a great mix of combat, puzzle-solving and parkour.

I don’t think the AC games have ever really covered what a Modern Day Assassin would play/look like, so I like some of the touches like how Darcy has an Eagle drone, that does a kind of Eagle sound effect.
The fact that there’s an Assassin Tomb below Buckingham palace is just so neat. The puzzle to get in was a bit difficult, but it got pretty easy and interesesting if you figured out the Large Statue had gold lines coming out of it, and following them would lead you to the correct symbols.

I really liked how they included the “Target Assassinated - Mindscape” cutscene. Even if this assassination isn’t taking place in the Animus, it was a nice touch to have that little post-death confession the series is known for.

Darcy as a character I think it going to be pretty cool and useful. The gun is a bit annoying in that it reloads while out suuuuper slow, but the added drone+EMP, AR Disguise, and Stealth bonus is pretty darn cool to have.

This update really makes me wish that each Season Pass operative had some sort of initiation mission, or at least Mina Sidhu (Wrench and Aiden have a full campaign). Getting some backstory on the character while also contending with their own personal issues that Dedsec helps solve (OMNI Scientists) would have been great. Eh, this stuff was cool though.
sidenote: I accidentally perma-killed Aiden while completing the missions. I drove him into an explosive barrel by accident. :sob:At least I’ve already finished the main game, apart from the Season Pass exclusive missions.

Ha! I permakilled Darcy by explosion! That stung a bit. Legion is a great game in that there’s really no main character but when you do grow even slightly attached to one of them and then they perma-die, it stings!

I didn’t think Darcy’s gun was that great to be honest. Too long to reload, not enough ammo, and not as damaging as some of the other stuff, but as an assassin, if you played her that way, not terrible either.
