So, their resources are involved and going toward this? And they’re not even the makers? Worse.
No. They are likely only involved with publishing and distributing the game. The resources you suggested to improve Hitman includes budgets and manpower. We did see they still pour money into Hitman’s live service, like hiring JCVD to voice for CelebrETs. As for human resources, the developing team who works on Hitman’s live service don’t likely have the job nor responsibility of publishing other games from other company. So I don’t exactly get your idea of those resources allocated to the publishing department means less for Hitman’s further improvement or future installment.
Anything not going to their own other projects, should be going to Hitman. And their other projects need to actually be worth the effort as well. So here’s a game that not only did they not make, but looks crappy as well. Why is IOI sparing even a penny for such a thing? I know it may be negligible, but come on IOI, if it’s to get your reputation out there more, do it for something that dazzles at least.
you do realise this is probably IOI outsourcing their publishing ability/infrastructure as a third party. that means more business, i.e. more money. they’re gaining from this.
In the financial short term, perhaps. With their name now associated with what appears to be a lackluster game, not bright.
Publishing Resources, though. They have a dedicated publishing wing now, that’s a new thing. You wouldn’t ask the chef who works in the cafeteria at your office to do the tax returns would you?
they will be associated with the publishing of said game, not the development. it’s pretty smart to provide a service and generate income. I don’t understand why you would think this is “taking resources” from hitman development.
I dunno, I guess I’m overreacting. I see IOI’s name on something, I love everything they’ve done so far, I see the latest thing their name is on looks like crap, it upsets me. It’d be like finding out Metallica wrote Single Ladies for Beyoncé.
Working with Conor McGregor is way more cringe than publishing this game
Single ladies is better than anything metallica has made
First of all, axiomatically wrong even if it was a good song. Second of all, Single Ladies doesn’t even match up to anything Steve sang on Blues Clues.
Now back to games.
Nah
I don’t know id rather go out to nothing else matters than single ladies, but that’s cause one would be more poetic and badass and the other would be used for comedic effect in a Netflix series.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is a game I’ve been looking forward to since it was announced last year. It comes out April 23rd, but a demo has just been released, that lets you play the first 7 of the game’s 100 days. Pretty meaty too, took me a good 3 hours to get through it.
100 Line is a game by the creator of Danganronpa and Rain Code, collaborating with the creator of Zero Escape and AI: The Somnium Files. I haven’t played AI yet, and haven’t fully beaten the first Zero Escape yet, but I am very familar Danganronpa and Rain Code, games I really enjoyed. 100 Line definetly has a lot of Danganronpa vibes, the writing style, the art style, and music by the same composer. There’s even a couple of not so subtle lines referencing the similarities to the games.
However, what makes 100 Line quite different is the gameplay. Danganronpa could probably be called a visual novel at the end of the day, with its gameplay tending to be stuff like mini-games to help keep the player engaged. 100 Line however, is more in line with Fire Emblem: Three Houses or Persona 3/4/5, in that the game has 2 distinct halves. The first half has you spend your free time in the academy, choosing to do stuff like spend time with your teammates, do some training, or explore the outside and gain some resources. Resources and stat increases feed into the second half of the game, which is a tactical RPG like Fire Emblem.
I’m not super into TRPGs, mainly because I tend to be rather rubbish at them. But from what I played, this is rather fun. You and your teammates each have unique types of attacks. What is very cool is that your turn is dictated by Action Points. Unlike Fire Emblem and X-COM, what this means is that rather than each teammate getting to act once per turn, instead, you can use all your AP focusing on one or two teammates per turn. When someone attacks, that makes them fatigued. If they suffer fatigue, they can only move one square but can still attack. But you can spend a point of AP to defend, which temporarily raises their defence, but also lets them rest and get rid of their fatigue. Sometimes it’s a good idea to attack, rest, then attack again with a good teammate, especially since some enemies upon death will reward you a point of AP, meaning you can do chain attacks and make your turn last twice as long.
I enjoy this system, and since this is a demo, it’s clear that there is more options and complexity to come in the full game, once you get more team members and will need to start choosing who you bring on missions, and at the same time, more devious enemy types. The story so far is engaging, lots of mysteries that we’ll need to wait for the full game until we can resolve.
So yeah, I’ll be buying this on launch. I just feel bad now because the demo has made my hype go up, given me a good taste, and now I can only wait until I can get the full thing. I hope the game does well, the creators have said that the studio can’t survive if this game does well. In the UK, it doesn’t seem like anyone is selling this physically, and even on Steam where I played the demo, the store page doesn’t actually even let you pre-order, just tells you to wishlist.
Looks pretty cool! I like the… rotoscoped animations? They seem too smooth to be standard pixel animation…
Do you have claustrophobia? Well, I have a game that will kill you!
Ohh boy, cave spelunking. Freaky. Spooky.
Coming to PSVR2, Quest 2 and up, and later on SteamVR.
A “Horror and Non-Horror” mode is included, letting you decide whether you want to add monsters to avoid in the dark tunnels.
Multiplayer is also planned for after launch.
Have fun down there! Hahah, hahah, hahahhah!
