Feel free to be as wrong as you like to be
Also Seth Rogen is about to make you his Bitch
The last Miyazaki film is going to release with no movie trailers or newspaper ads.
Quality speaks for itself.
And it’s been silent for a while.
That is because you can’t rush it either.
i think tmnt looks great. love the aesthetic.
No, I meant because it’s got nothing to say lately. Then again, that doesn’t invalidate your statement, either.
The new Alien movie has a release date. I’m preparing myself to be mildly disappointed on 16 Aug 2024.
Who knows, maybe it’ll even be good. It certainly can’t be worse than Covenant.
Yeah, at this point I think Alien, like the Terminator series, is too burnt out. Too much time has gone by since the first two that are almost universally loved, and attempts to try new things have fallen flat. The third and fourth films weren’t handled well enough to be beloved. The vs Predator films were spoiled due to comics, video games and even toy lines presenting superior stories than what the movies tried. The prequel films were too inconsistent with the mythology, although props to Prometheus for trying earnestly to do something new and almost capturing that feel of exploration from the very first film.
The thing of it is that, unlike the Predator films, which have kept enough mystery and complexity with the Predators that were able to gain success again with Prey in the hands of someone who knows how to present a good story, the Alien creature, like the Terminator, is a pony with only a few tricks and then all story possibilities with them are played out. What can we say about the Alien now? Hatch from egg, face-hugger, chestburster, big slimy double-mouthed penis on legs, sometimes a big old queen, chase humans through dark corridors, big explosion that doesn’t kill the last one, dump the last one out into space. Try to do anything different than that, and you’re disrupting the lore that made the first two great. Try to repeat what the first two did and you’re… just trying to repeat what the first two did. Alien needs to be either left alone or rebooted entirely with new rules to be viable.
i thought covenant was okay. just watched it the other day. not great but it mostly made sense.
mostly.
prometheus, on the other hand; i thought that was an actual mess. like, they fucked it at script, fucked it during filming and then fucked it in the edit. half the characters and plot developments make no sense. it’s crazy.
See, I quite like Prometheus and think Covenant is the mess.
Though, to be fair, Covenant’s grown on me a bit after a couple of rewatches.
Is that from A View to a Kill? Obscure…
He’s easily the best part of that film. He makes for a great Bond villian.
HOLY SHIT! Is that a colored remake of the original?’
Oh my god that’s a big boy
