Currently replaying the Providence trilogy, I can hole heartily say that Pairs aka. The Showstopper is the by any doubt in my mind the worst level in the hole trilogy. I hate the layout and it’s design.
Hidden Vally is better then Showstopper.

I like that targets and suspects enforce guards disguises on Alerted and Hardcore territories in Freelancer.
Usually guard disguises are quite overpowered anyway. They give you greater access to the map’s areas than civilian disguises, with elite guards being allowed everywhere or at least having the biggest clearance out of the rest of disguises. They are not difficult to get, as they are present in all areas of any map in great numbers and they are easier to lure as they will prioritize any distractions over civilians, and can be manipulated in exclusively non-civilian ways like reacting to unattended weapons, gunshots, crimes etc. Finally, they allow you to carry and plant almost all kinds of weapons and equipment, and some even allow you to carry everything, including sniper rifles.
Making targets suspicious of guard disguises balances them out in a unique and fair way. It also gives value to often neglected civilian disguises, especially some rarer ones like nurse for more freedom in Janus’s house, shaman for Andrea’s compound, director for Yuki’s suite etc. This mechanic does backfire in the areas with no civilian disguises allowed, but this speaks more for the questionable design choices of such areas in the first place.
You’re joking right? It was the best selling Hitman game of all time and that’s even been acknowledged by IOI. It even sold 300% better commercially" than Hitman 2 as well.
It also recouped its complete budget within the first week.
One of the most underused game mechanics in my opinion! Appears only twice in the game – on Whittleton Creek and Haven Island.
And special mention to the Haven Island one: you don’t need to add a poison, since Portman think it’s gluten-free (it’s not).
He will then have a special bark, and go to the Med Clinic.
Where he will stay for the rest of the run.
It’s an excellent way to do the Shape Chenger story / planning for the double elimination in the jacuzzi without knocking him out.
I had no idea he did that. Is it possible to place that muffin without using a disguise?
Yes.
Although, I did it by causing a panic with some shots.
He ate the muffin, and appears to be sick. Maybe he’ll go to the Dr. later.
Yeah. He’s on his way.
This just made things a lot easier for me in the future. So now, last question, because it’s been a while since I did any exploring on Haven: is there a muffin already located on the map?
I believe in the room behind the kitchen where Urben’s likeness in NPC form is occupied. Inside the fridge by the sink and ice machine distraction deal’y. So maybe a poolside start would be optimal.
Oh yes, I think I remember that now. (rubs hands together) This just made things interesting. Now all I have to do is get that muffin on the plate without using a disguise.
At the very least you’ll need a lockpick.
Got that covered. Portman has been the most annoying aspect of trying to do a Silent Assassin Suit Only triple drowning playthrough in accordance with the HPP, I’ve never been fully satisfied with how I’ve pulled it off in the past, and this sounds like just the ticket if I can get that muffin on that plate in my suit without KOing anyone.
I always thought he hypochondriac-ed himself into being sick after eating it.
There’s also one out in the open on a table by the cocktail bar.
Here’s how I do it. Note that Portman has some activity before he settles into the loop where the phone call can happen, so you may have to wait a bit if you try to do it like that right away at the start.
Not to state the obvious, but because of this muffin talk I feel like I should state that you can place many other food items, not only muffins, which is why I went out of my way to make that (slightly edited) screenshot. Meaty bone and cheeseburger also make him go to the medical bay, and while banana or apple don’t have that effect you can still poison them.
I don’t really like the idea of using non-suit unlocks as unlockable suits. It feels to me like crossing a line what what should be unlockable. Like yes, suit unlocks like Swimwear could (or should be) unlockable, but The Superfan feels too much, even if it does not work as actual Superfan unlock.
I agree with this, with one exception. Now that they’re actually giving us outfits found only on certain maps, I want the real Kashmirian outfit.
Something I genuinely think will be an unpopular opinion:
After all this time, I still hate the save option in Hitman games. Yes, I know I don’t have to use it, and I went out of my way not to (disabled autosave), but it bothers me how engrained it became in the main campaign, with people loading up saves for easy access to challenge completion or other try-outs.
To be clear: the people doing it this way don’t
bother me, but the low-hanging fruit that is offered does.
I still remember the debate when H2:SA introduced saving in the series. Even in highest difficulty you wouls get free saves on bigger missions like Tubeway Torpedo. To me, it’s
cheating. The perfect kill requires perfect planning andnperfect execution from A to Z. Not from A to B and from B to K and then back to B to M and from M to you get my point.
What does appease me is that many game modes and difficulty levels remove the save option.
Codename 47 taught me do re-do my mission when i failed.
