I like Outside Xbox too, they too got me into the games, but I go in knowing that they’re simultaneously good at the games and not good for the sakes of my enjoyment. There is some stuff I learned from them, but I largely watch them for Entertainment, not for learning new strats. Same goes for BigMooney06.
I’m not saying that a person’s entire playstyle will be strictly based on what they find online (though, as you rightly point out, people do this regardless), but what they find, watch, and read influences them to use those weapons and try them out, especially if it comes with minimal risk; that only makes it easier.
That’s true, but no one talks about Vanya specifically. (And I mean she’s like one of the best lore-wise and not just gameplay wise) Everybody always simps for Dawood cause of his cartoonish bad guy personality. I just feel like no one really talks about her interesting backstory and the way her queen stuff is like kind of a coping mechanism for her trauma.
With this map, I would personally say it comes down to the mission. A Glided Cage is underwhelming. Yet A House Built on Sand is one of the best missions in H16. That said I would still rate Colorado as the worst map in the trilogy.
i think she’s not talked about as much because she’s not as conventionally attractive like the other female targets are (nothing wrong with it, but it stands out when you compare a scantily clad Ljudmila to her, and most of the fanbase are men…let’s be honest here - look at the most attractive female in WOA thread).
also, like every target in Mumbai, her location is really remote. so of course people will focus on Dawood more, he’s the loudest and most brash target, personality wise. Vanya and the Maelstrom are more mysterious and hidden, with you being forced to uncover things about the Maelstrom, but with Vanya, you’re not really encouraged to grab intel on her. she gets glossed over a lot.
she does deserve more recognition as a well written target. for example, the story of her advisor Rima is compelling and tragic.
i think we overhear in the barber shop a rumour about how rima is the one putting all the ideas of royalty in vanya’s noggin.
you’re right though; she’s the easiest of the three to get out of her fortress (even without the kashmirian), so we’re not as explicitly guided to engage with her environment/story.
having said that, there is a lot of npc chatter about her (all of them, really), tying into the myth making theme.
Well to me personally, Ljudmila is the absolute opposite of attractive… I find other female targets in the trilogy much more interesting, both in terms of lore and gameplay (Carlisle, Vidal, Knox…), and it’s certainly not based on their looks. That being said, I agree that Shah gets overlooked, and she’s just as satisfying to off as Vetrova is.
i mean, yeah attraction is subjective. what one finds appealing another may not. ljudmila is number 1 for most people, one can assume, due to her conventionally attractive looks. it draws people in.
Vanya is beautiful too, but for most players they’re not immediately drawn to her. one reason could be because she’s hard to even see in the first place. ljudmila literally walks up to 47 when he leaves his hut and flirts with him. to put it plainly, Vanya is not as easy to objectify.
not saying that objectification is the sole reason that Vanya Shah is overlooked, however I feel that it definitely plays a factor in why a lot of people don’t look more into her. it’s unfortunate. sorry if that was too long-winded, just wanted to clarify things
Yeah, Rima’s backstory definitely adds to how interesting she is. Their whole relationship, to be honest. But, it is also true that she gets glossed over in the actual mission which sucks because there are even a couple of moments where she breaks down her whole “queen status” and shows how traumatized she really is. Like, when a guard asks her about her adventures with the Maelstrom, she shuts him down and talks about in detail how traumatic the event was for her. There’s also that one moment where if she sees Rima getting killed, she will go to the mirror in her little train carriage to mourn and shout “Rima, no!”
