I hate Wrath for two reasons
- The lighting is messed up outside, so i can’t take good pictures
- it’s just boring, you can’t actually have any combat, it’s just chucking screwdrivers at guards for 3 levels
I hate Wrath for two reasons
I think a (primarily Hitman) live-streamer should have that audio play whenever someone makes a donation.
No, it was an exact explosion of morbid, dark hilarity. The guy spent his whole life getting arouse from death and violence, that even his own death and the agony he’s feeling from it is enough to get him an erection at the fact he’s going to die… and even he doesn’t understand why. That’s funny as hell.
He is right you know. That is line is exactly as funny as a roiling, hot pit where you endure an eternity of divinely mandated punishment.
I’ve finally figured it out: people who don’t like Absolution have a sense of humor that is only developed as far as knock-knock jokes.
Bitch, you gaslighted yourself into thinking a boner joke is high art! You are in absolutely no position to judge our taste in comedy.
Don’t overstate your case. I never said anything about “high art.” I never compared it to “art” at all. I said it was funny as hell. Funny has nothing to do with art, and frequently, the two are mutually exclusive. Anything can be funny, if the situation is suitably ridiculous enough.
Watch Freddy Got Fingered or spend a minute on The Babylon Bees main page, ridiculousness does not mean it is funny and Absolution functions on much the same level as the former two.
I did not, you literally called a boner joke “an exact explosion of morbid, dark hilarity”.
Did. It had some knee-slappers.
Never heard of it.
Not automatically, no, but a thing cannot be funny without being ridiculous, silly, or exaggerated.
I’ll take your word for that.
Yes. Dark humor. Morbid humor. Something that would not be funny, ordinarily, if it were taking place in a true and typical situation, but which when presented in such an over-the-top and/or ridiculous situation, becomes hilarious by comparison.
I’ll let someone smarter and more experienced in comedy than both of us explain it.
I am so glad you have taken to outsourcing your arguments, it will make interacting with you far less tedious than it should be.
But it isn’t funny, it is just a crass and juvenile boner joke that tops off what is framed as a very dark and serious level where women of the cloth are butchered, a security guard is tortured and a girl is abducted. It is as mature and funny as Absolution’s belief that making characters swear all the time is also funny and mature. Absolution is basically a 90s Image comic with less Wolverine rip-offs.
If that’s what you believe, then I’ll simply restate my previous statement here…
… and call it a day.
Meh my main problem with absolutions humor was that it was sexual and immature and it doesn’t jive well with the more serious story it’s trying to portray, it’s the whole “lost focus” thing absolution suffers from. The immaturity works with Dexter because he’s like a sharp contrast to the far more serious characters he’s interacting with (lela, Victoria, 47, and Benjamin Travis). His set of interactions with Benjamin Travis on the roof is hilarious because of his contrast.
When it’s a one off character or line like Wade just being sexual and immature, it’s not funny because that’s all it is. There’s no wit, irony, or absurdity behind it: it just comes across as sexual and immature. If these characters and lines leaned more into the “serious spec ops organization and professionals somehow finding themselves having to deal with a bunch of hillbilly idiots”, then this humor could have jived better.
