…. Spectral Voice?

Tomb Mold is pretty great. Lots of great stuff out there these days!

4 weeks to go until the Persona 3 remake drops. You bet your ass that when it’s out I’ll be making a big post noone will listen to about the difference between the original and remake soundtracks.

Atlus dropped the opening movie for the game online today. Gorgeous, a couple of very slick shots, amazing how well you can blend 2D and 3D animation together, that motorcycle shot is French kiss.

I also adore the implication that the P3 protagonist actually has the P3 soundtrack on his music player.

Trigger warning for suicidal imagery.

And for context, here are the opening movies for the first release of Persona 3 and for the third release, Persona 3 Portable. Not going to post the opening for the second release, FES, since that isn’t really an opening but rather it’s a compilation of cutscenes and gameplay footage with a song from the soundtrack over it, and it is a bit spoilery. Kindof shame they did that, I believe it’s the only Persona opening to do that kind of thing. Typical for games of the time I guess but considering how many great anime openings the Persona series has given us, the FES one stands out like a sore thumb.

Pretty much every band/artist I’ve listened to since the early 00s when I stepped out of my lifelong comfort zone of country music and started listening to rock, pop, and some limited hip hop. From Godsmack to Goo Goo Dolls, all of them felt like I should have been listening to them all along.

dude Bolt Thrower is so awesoooooome and I also rarely listen to them!

Another one for me in the same vein is GWAR. For a band I’ve seen live a few times, I rarely put on their records. But when I do I’m reminded that they’re really quite good.

There are so many good metal bands that even established ones will slip through the cracks. For me some of the ones I got to way too late are Obituary, Morbid Angel, and Suicidal Tendencies.

For non-metal, I would say Bruce Springsteen. I always knew he was one of The Greats, but I never sat down to listen till more recently.

Gonna be a different post on this thead, but oh well.

There’s something fascinating about the music video as a concept.

I find myself watching a bunch of music videos, I’m kinda just letting it go on shuffle and letting it play out. But it’s almost euphoric the feeling I get watching them and I’m honestly surprised with how timeless a lot of the ones i watched are just on art direction alone.

There’s also just a certain amount of existentialism that comes with it also, but that’s okay because I have a new found appreciation for music videos that I didn’t have a few hours ago.

Randomly appeared on a playlist of theme tunes for me. I’m nowhere near Matt Smith’s turn in my rewatch of Who recently, but man, this song is iconic and so memorable. Really captures the whimsy, fun, and epic side to the character of that era.
