Thanks for adding this here. I was too lazy to copypaste it last night
I wonder if it´ll be possible to use Friends 4 Life alongside this, or if the Final Cut will try to incorporate stuff from it
Ok, so this wasn´t just my imagination when watching the videos. Honestly, I don´t like the filter and hope that they can somehow make it optional or that someone will make a mod restoring the original look. The filter just throws the game into the heap of games from the late 2000s with an overtly brownish look (wink wink GTA IV).
I can’t believe they finally choose a location outside of US. And I was worried that there won’t be cars in the 1900s setting but there seems to be anyway. I am looking forward to this!
Like I mentioned in the other thread, I wouldn’t count on there being many of them given the time period and locale
But yeah, I’m looking forward to it as well. I’m glad they chose Sicily. Apart from being a pretty logical step, it’s a beautiful, atmospheric, and heavily underutilised setting (outside of WWII games), and I always felt disappointed by how cut it ended up in Mafia II. Gives off some neat Godfather/Puzo vibes and I’m looking forward to some old-fashioned weaponry as well.
Also, I’m curious whether it will cover a longer timespan. It would be cool seeing changes from the traditional rural society, modern technology creeping in, all the way until the advent of fascism and Mussolini’s clampdown on the Mafia.
Outside of Sicily in this period, the one other non-US setting I’d kind of like to see is Italy/Sicily in the 1980’s and early 90’s.
I’m guessing they named it that way because it’s a prequel and maybe because they might want people to forget about the mess that was Mafia 3. I really hope Old Country is more Mafia 1 DE and less open world shite that was 3 not to mention, less glitches
I think this was the game that started the trend of comparing modern games with ones from 20 years ago to point out certain features
This was a nice read actually, with quite a bit of meaningful info (the bit about Sicilian knives and knife fighting got me particularly interested). Glad they confirmed that they are taking the way of Mafia 1 and 2 in terms of storytelling, and that the open world will serve primarily as a backdrop (though I hope there still is some level of interactivity, at least in a free roam mode). Still a bit uncertain how to feel about UE5 though…
