You seem to have confused a fictional character with a real person whose name and face have been put into the game with their explicit participation and, therefore, profit.
Friendly reminder, The Disruptor Pack will cease to be sold and the content as of now wonât be reissued.
If you purchased the pack you should still have access to the content.
Itâs delisted off Xbox and PSN. But Steam is still available.
The Ostentatious has been moved to the end of the Arcade gamemode page.
The Career â Elusive Targets page remains unchanged and in release order.
Pretty well.
According to the now removed âThe successful launch of the Disruptorâ article on ioi.dk:
The Disruptor has brought in 150,000 daily active users to HITMAN World of Assassination, making it the most successful update since the release of HITMAN Freelancer in January 2023
And on steamdb:
Now is it directly because of McGregor, indirectly because of reach a new algorithm circle, or just because it was the first new content and first DLC pack for a year and half, I do not know.
As for how it compares:
The Drop itself when it was just an Elusive Target also a good success, if a good third less. It still doubled the numbers, and maintained higher one for some months.
But as it was re-released as a DLC pack, and an ET Returns he obtained pretty much the same numbers as the Disruptor.
The CelebrET program is under metrics a success.
Seemingly more when itâs a pack and not an ET though.
Unless it conservation of momentum, or change in communication, or change in player rapport to the game live content.
The game does currently repeat a peak of 7000 players on steam regularly, compared to 3000 peak cycle before. Last one a month ago. The Undying and The Drop packs both created one.
And this is just Steam, I can imagine a similar graph for consoles and on Epic.
Future DLC purchases should require IOI staff to verify it before it goes all the way through or a 100 hour verification period this way if a celebrity goes through a scandal, players wonât be able to preemptively purchase a DLC that stands a good chance of being delisted.
am i just being overly sensitive here or is their statement very lackluster? i really think they should take accountability for choosing to work with him in the first place, this seems very âadmit no wrongdoingâ to me
Thatâs just unnecessarily complex.
JustâŚdonât hire people who arenât right in the head. Do more background checks. I know Wikipedia is frowned upon, but it can be handy, yâknow?
And be wary of unfounded slander and unsubstantiated rumors before denying working with celebrities.
Iâm not too annoyed by it. While itâs not exactly admitting fault, itâs certainly got the spirit across that players like myself wanted them to have.
Maybe theyâll apologise later when the dust has settled some more.
donât get me wrong, iâm not gonna storm the gates of IO interactive with a pitchfork or anything. i just think they should admit responsibility for this completely self-inflicted wound - now they have to deal with the fact that heâs part of their game forever (especially because they SOLD the ET which means they legally canât remove him)
Gotta agree here. The trial has been pending for ages and would pre-date their contract with him. They either didnât vet him properly or didnât care at the time.
Neither option is a good reflection on IO tbh.
Itâs shocking that it took a court case for IO to cut ties with this guy when his shittiness was already well known. Terrible mistake to ever work with him in the first place. Better late than never I suppose but it was a horrible look.
As a woman and a victim of sexual assault I have to say I am very happy how they handled it and that they quit the work with McGregor! And for people saying âwe can kill him in the gameâ- you truly miss the point.
Would be kinda poetic justice for everyone who purchased the DLC to lose access without refund especially those that purchased after the verdict was made as they had to know a delist was imminent. But as I said earlier this would only cause other problems and could hurt future DLC sales. Best they could do would be to give everyone that purchased the DLC a voucher for the next DLC.
Dunno if theyâd bother with completely removing the mission from the game. No doubt a mod would eventually surface to add it back on PC anyway, which would somewhat defeat the point.
best they could do is a refund
Yeah itâs a class move from IOI and they struck whilst the iron is hot, which is a good thing. I think for people who owned the Disrupter DLC, youâll keep the content such as the unlockable suits, weapons, Safehouse decorations etc as normal.
You know what, I was thinking what are IOI going to do with the Safehouse cosmetics which came with the Disrupter DLC, such as the hot tub for the outside area and the recording booth/fish tank etc that you can have in the Gym area? I wonder if theyâll put those items back up eventually on the store for a reduced price? IOI might not, but I guess the Safehouse items werenât really linked to McGregor?

I see that they have brutally removed the whole content from the game
I can understand the decision, but iâm against removing content and cancel culture in general.
Now hours of content that iâve made is potentially going to the trash because of this
They shouldâve thought twice before recruiting him for this content!
So what we should expect in the future? If any celebrity that youâve recruited gets in court you will remove the content too? Thatâs a dangerous path hereâŚ
Now this feels like giving me a nice cake and removing it from my hands
I hope that people who purchased the content will still be able to have access to it, despite the obvious wrongdoings of the character and MOSTLY, that such situation will not happen anymore in the futureâŚ
The Arcade mission included in the Disruptor Pack will still be accessible to players who own it. However, new players will no longer be able to buy the DLC, and therefore wonât be able to access the mission.
