[Serious - TW: Sexual Assault] Conor McGregor (The Disruptor) verdict and presence in the game

That’s a bit more explicit, but I do concur it is very similar.

The issue is that McGregor is associated with those items now, so not doing anything would be a bit unusual. Nothing against the country, of course.

If they made a game with Grey instead of using McGregor, all of this wouldn’t have happened. Just sayin’ :smirk:

Can the green elastic band/fiber wire from the Disruptor pack be used to create impossible contracts to people who did not bought the pack before the removal from stores?

Technically it’s always been possible to create that kind of troll contracts with the ICA Performance Coin and the coin kill glitch, and there were probably a lot of contracts relying on bugs that have since been fixed (like Sieker pistol elimination), so it’s just a drop in the ocean of shitty contracts sadly.

Also I think you have to use HCCE to make that kind of contract, otherwise it would default to the generic “Fiber Wire” method. And you can already make plenty of other troll contracts with it (thankfully most players use it for challenge or theming).

Yeah, that’s fair enough. I’d understand if they did, but I still feel like it would be reinforcing the negative connection a bit. Probably not enough to matter a huge amount, but it would definitely make me say “Ah, darn. That’s a bit of a shame.”

Just keep stars, influencers and other “celebrities” out of the game.

Heard you’re the next rumoured ET. If everyone completes it SASO, then Codename 47 will finally be remastered in HD for consoles.

Better yet - IOI, adopt my Parameters of Perfection for that ET, and at least 80% of players must complete it in accordance with them, and we get the Remaster of C47. :smiling_imp:

I don’t think that solves the problem, and more importantly, seems artificially limiting.

CelebrET’s are fine, same goes for Featured Contracts made by prominent Influencers, the former seems to actually inspire a lot of level changes compared to non-celebrET’s.

What needs to happen is that IOI needs to have a background check process instead of just coasting on controversy.

I think people need to remember the idea of celebrities, influencers, etc isn’t that people will go “They’re in this game, I need to buy it.”

The idea is that they will see the person and go “What’s that…” The idea is to get the attention of more audiences so that more people who will buy the game if aware of its qualities, become aware of its qualities. ie get more people to invest the thirty seconds to decide if the game looks fun by cutting through the noise of advertising.

So, they’re going to be somewhat inevitable as promoters, cameos, etc in the industry. I just personally am not convinced that McGregor fans were the best demographic to target for this, but I can also see how IO probably figured every video game influencer’s audience is aware of Hitman at this point so they needed to branch out.

I’ve said this elsewhere, but just put all the effort from these ETs into ONE bonus mission and I think more will be happy.

Hell, do it on a small map like Whittleton Creek. I won’t be picky!

I only paid for those cosmetic weapon packs as a thank you for Freelancer. I’m not going to buy these ET packs.

I returned to this forum after a long hiatus and came across this news, fucking beautifull, so that’s yet another piece of content locked away on Tartarus forever. What’s the point of making new stuff for the game if you’re going to remove it anyway, this company is becoming more and more of a joke as time goes by.

Will the mission and cosmetics be reworked and rereleased in the future or are you going to bury them altogether and pretend you never made them in the first place? I think players deserve an answer to this. When you make a live service game people expect you to add content, not remove it.

and if you absolutely need to put a celebrity in your game for whatever reason

maybe pick one that doesn’t have twenty paragraphs on their wikipedia page solely dedicated to the various controversies they were involved in

I missed out on The Disruptor Pack and I have literally every single item that was previously released for the past 8 years, I was aiming to get every content for WoA and now my dream is over… I expected them to at least give us time, like a day or two to buy the pack. They were always transparent about their plans about the game… Are the items going to be re-released in the future? This is honestly heartbreaking for me.

If you have to ask why this happened, then you haven’t paid attention to the rest of this thread. It is too damaging to IOI’s long-term reputation to continue to be associated with someone with a reputation as a sex offender.

And the content is not gone if you already bought it. If you hadn’t bought it by now, that’s on you.

Been able to buy the pack for nearly six months. That you waited this long and missed out on it by a few days is hardly IOI’s fault.

From what I know they had an ongoing event for The Disruptor as an Elusive Target that was scheduled to end in early December, that was something IOI promised to players, I understand the delistment from the business perspective but if anything they should have done it after Dec. 8 after making an announcement. And whether if it was listed for 6 months or not is not important here, as the pack was never advertised as a limited-time deal, unlike the free Elusive Target. If anything, it was advertised as the opposite. Dave the Diver recently ended its Godzilla collab a few days ago, and now its free DLC is unavailable for newcomers. The difference? They disclosed the limited time deal promotion and its duration crystal clear from the first. IOI was always good with its planned roadmap and everything, I just expected them to treat their players a bit better than this.

It wasn’t going to be. It was likely going to be around for a long, long time. But then Conor’s desire to cum one night in 2018 ended up forcing them to change their plans after a jury decided it was more likely to be non-consensual than not.

What I am baffled about is not their decision to distance from the man, but how they executed it. I was under the impression that I just needed to be vigilant to keep up to date with their monthly-now-seasonal roadmaps, and it was exactly that way for the past 8 years. I personally knew near nothing about Conor, I recall him doing something with Pacquiao(and I don’t know much about that guy either) but that’s about it, I just liked playing as a bald man shooting shiny pistols and wanted every digital clothes for him because… well, I thought he’s pretty cool. And now I missed something, something I’ll never get, not because I missed a date on a preposted schedule or anything, but because of the court case originated from 2018.

Feels like there is an alarming amount of people that care more about video game content becoming unavailable than the fact that a woman was sexually assaulted.

Thank you! It’s amazing how many people don’t mention her. As if she is just a side note in all of this.
