I wouldn’t be so sure about many of these ideas coming to fruition. Eon Productions led by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli famously maintain tight editorial control over Bond output. It has been their decision to produce no new (flagship) Bond games in the past decade, mainly due to concerns over the quality of the output.
Whilst IOI might be creating an original Bond story for Project 007, this does not mean they will have free rein to do whatever they like with the IP. Eon will not give their sign-off to anything they consider a brand risk. They put a stop to the Call of Duty clone Bond games of the mid-00s/early 2010s precisely because they felt the gameplay did not appropriately reflect James Bond.
We’ve also seen this in the rumoured hostilities between Barbara Broccoli and Amazon executives. A couple of years ago, Amazon bought MGM and now distribute Bond. However, Eon maintains editorial control and is not happy with the corporate, profit-at-all-costs attitude of their new Amazon colleagues. Broccoli reportedly describes the Amazon execs as “fucking idiots” to her friends and baulks at use of the word “content” to describe Bond projects.
Eon have previously commented that they dislike overtly violent portrayals of Bond as seen in previous games. I expect Project 007 to have a strong focus on infiltrating locations as stealthily and non-violently as possible, often to complete objectives such as “steal the data” etc., rather than lots of assassination-focused missions. For this reason, I don’t think Project 007 will feature a ported version of Elusive Targets in this way.
Similarly, Eon would be sceptical of ‘celebrity’ cameos and would be minded to steer clear of these, especially in the case of anyone who isn’t really that famous (i.e., The Drop), or could present a significant brand risk (i.e., The Disruptor).
I agree IOI might have every reason to do this - piggybacking on Bond to promote their own IP to a huge audience for free - but Eon has every reason to refuse them.
Yep, it’s likely Project 007 will have plenty of hallmarks of the Glacier engine we know from Hitman. However, they have also been employing engine programmers to work on Project 007, so I would also expect to see signs of innovation and divergence from Hitman’s style.
This, I can say with absolute cast-iron certainly, will not happen under any circumstances. Firstly, Bond is now in the Amazon stable. Nothing will be happening on Netflix. Secondly, as mentioned earlier, Eon maintain fierce editorial control and seem firmly against the kind of TV drama spin-off content farming we have seen with franchises such as Star Wars.
Amazon might eventually get their claws in and start farming Bond for TV shows, but IOI absolutely does not have freedom to start making its own game spin-off TV series.
