POLL: Will you transfer your progress in Hitman 3?

Surely if you choose to transfer progress the trophies will transfer too? I really do hope so, or I will be going through H1&2 to complete the trophies again.

I want that Platinum!

I just wonder if I could get items like the explosive pen back if I wouldn’t transfer progress, cause that’s behind an elusive target challenge…

I will definitely transfer my progress as well.

There are also (as of yet) plenty of things you won’t be able to unlock again if you start over:

Possibly:

  • ICA Outstanding Performance Coin – Granted as part of Legacy rewards in HITMAN 2.
  • Explosive Pen – Play “The Undying” Elusive Target first time round in Miami.
  • Lil Flashy – Play “The Undying” Elusive Target second time round in Miami.

In the far future:

  • Elusive Target suits – Completing 3 to 15 Elusive Targets (+ every location unlock).
  • Featured Contract unlocks – Complete up to 40 Featured Contracts.

Confirmed to be unlockable (Thank you @TheContractor):

  • Phantom Assassin Suit – Complete 100 unoticed kills in Ghost Mode. RIP

No, they said you’ll be able to unlock that in H3. Just through a new method (RIP GM :sob:)

Not sure if they will allow people to get the pen and lil flashy again, they should tho imo

So yeah, following recent developments I personally won’t be transferring my H2 progress on EGS. I’d rather miss out on pre-order bonus, possibly elusive targets and have to do all of H3 twice than lock my account to that platform once the Steam version finally releases.

Well, now I’m questioning this two hour old decision.

So do you still plan on playing it on EGS? Seeing that progression carryover is a one-time process, would it be possible to:

  1. Play H3 on EGS (new profile, no transfer, starting from the beginning)
  2. Unlock stuff for a 3rd (!) time now (perhaps missing out on previous Elusive Target unlocks)
  3. Buy the game on Steam in 2022
  4. Transfer your progress
Not sure if Steam users will get that opportunity.
  5. Enjoy having your profile, mastery and all your unlocks from H2
  6. Unlock stuff in H3’s campaign
  7. Replay Elusive Targets in H3 (only possible if ETs are recycled)

I know this is crazy because you end up buying the game twice, but it should theoretically be possible.

If I was reasonable I would have cancelled my preorder, but I don’t want to get spoiled about the new maps and have to wait for a year before being able to extract game files.
EDIT: And despite how angry I can be towards IOI’s decisions, I’m never resorting to piracy.

My current plan is to buy H3 and only H3 on EGS (though I still will have access to H1 GOTY), start on a new account and care only about H3 challenges and ETs.
When the Steam version is released, I will transfer my H2 progress there if H1 and H2 are unlocked for free, even if it means losing H3 ET rewards for the time being. If it’s not possible, depending on whether the preorder bonus is available and how ET reactivations work, I will either start fresh on Steam anyway, transfer progress on EGS (and erase everything done so far) or not touch anything.

That’s a decision for me, seems.
But Epic is a different store, so the new account already

I will transfer my progress to be focused on H3.
(and because I don’t have as much time to play as I had for H2)
(and because EGS will be the final host for the trilogy for me)

no brainer . YES!!! I refuse to grind again

they said it’s all or nothing

Yes, there is select items people can’t fully obtain anymore such as the ICA Outstanding Performance Coin from Season One. I refuse to lose that time due to its rarity alone.

I’ll go back and get the new mastery levels first and then go do HITMAN 3 simple.

Thats exactly what I am doing now. And if they tell us its a time-limeted thing to carry over progress, e.g. not able to convert to steam, this will end up as the most dissapointing launch I ever witnessed. I waited a year for control to end up on steam, and did the same with metro exodus. I cant wait on Hitman, and with this mess of a launch going on, man.

Days pass slowly until launch , so I end up replying to myself :stuck_out_tongue:

After the recent news about transfer “all-or-nothing” procedure , I have a new dilemma whether to start over again…
I think I might end up playing H3 from Paris to Romania , enjoying taking shots with new camera gadget , slowly unlocking gear and trophies , grinding to reach again top Mastery Levels (Creek & Bank better give us something worthy on their 5+5 new tracks) , only to get slapped on the face :stuck_out_tongue: when I realize that I won’t be able to get that Hokkaido Elusive Suit , because it will be again locked behind a limited access run that I will miss in the future…I guess Santa Suit will have to wait as well , for next Christmas “surprise” Holiday Horders level.

I still have some little hopes, they ll reveal a new Elusive Reward system so that we can unlock everything again at our own pace !!!

Same here, I had to reconsider my plans for thus game. I wont carry over, buy Hitman 2 (if its 10 pr less) and have an empty, new playthrough. With the new items added it it probably wont be even tooo annyoing, at this point its almost certain they will rerun the old H1 and 2 ETs anyway. Sure I will lose some really loved items like me elusive coin, or the travel case, but I hope, really hope, that I can transfer my game from steam to steam next year, and that they will rerun all Hitman 3 ETs then too for steam users. Again, I think there is no way after this they wont allow steam uders to transfer their progress.

This means we also lose those items in Hitman 2? or that we will not have those items in Hitman 3?

He means he will play Hitman 3 on an “empty” account, as if you just bought all three games for the first time. Of course all elusive unlocks are locked then, and probably they will carve out content once more, giving us the christmas mission, elusives, escalations etc later down the road, so he cant even unlock it again if the wants to.

All because he does not want to transfer progress, and rather waits for next year to transfer it back to steam.

As Jason said , I mean I ll try new “blank page” profile on H3…H2 items and stuff will stay (probably) there if I choose to reinstall H2 app (I m on Ps4 , and can’t wait to uninstall this whole 120+ GB) , but if I choose to transfer them at a later point on H3 I am gonna lose the H3 progress earned by then…

probably I will do the same. Imo, playing it as a whole game is better than have some unique and not useful item. For me it’s not grinding, it’s just… playing

After a few hours of reading through their long post, I think I “cracked the code”. Here is what to do best, if you DONT want to carry over your progress if you either want to buy the game later on Steam, OR dont want to carry over to start “new”, with all challenges yet to be done.

Right now, we dont know if they will redo old Season Elusives, and we dont know if they will allow carry over from Steam to Steam, or carry over from Epic to Steam. This post focuses on things we know certain, aswell as “highly likely” as they did that the previous two games.

I will post this here because the progression carry-over thread is not about this topic anymore:

Pros of carry over: All your unlocks, aswell as special unlocks like the Travel Briefcase and the ICA special coin that arent part of either of the access pass, aswell as ET rewards of which we dont know if they will be available again.
Cons of carry over: Safegame then maybe locked to Epic tho, as we dont know if they allow Epic to Steam carryover next year.

Pros of not carry over: Your Safegame might be secure to move from Steam to Steam next year.
Cons of not carry over: No items at all, missing all the special unlocks that are not part of the access passes. Note that the Blood Money back, and the Exceciutive packs are part of Hitman 2. Items that wont be able to unlock again are the Winter Suit and Travel Case for owning Season One, and the special ICA coin for doing ETs on SA in Hitman 1. Also, if they dont do the old ETs again, these will also be not available for you as unlocks on your “clean” Epic account. Also, if you wait for Hitman on Steam, and even if you are 100% on Epic, you will start from zero on Steam, which means you might be able to miss out on the Hitman 3 ETs, if they dont do a rerun of these.

So here is my best way to do for said people that do not want to carry over, for their own reason:

Wait for the first Elusive Target to be announced, aswell as the changes they said they will do to the ET forumula. If they will be PERMANENT and NEW, it will be safe to wait. Because that means, we will be able to unlock them on Steam again, next year. If they are still TIMED and an OLD reactived target, that means we still are safe to wait, as these unlocks we already have on our Steam account. If they are TIMED and NEW, you should reconsider carry over, as we maybe, wont be able to get them again on Steam next year. But so far, they prove themselfs to reactivate targets quite a few times. Only difference is if you dont have all the Hitman 1 or Hitman 2 ETs, then you should consider not transfering your progress as that will carry over that you didnt do them/failed them, and cant replay them, if they reactivate them again. Instead, you should play on a clean account, as everything you then will miss out are the Travel Case, Winter Suit Reskin, and ICA coin.

If you then reconsider and do want to move your progress to Epic, keep in mind that it will delete all your previous Safegame on Epic. So if the ET Situation made you reconsider, do that before the time runs out, or you wont be able to unlock it again. Its also a one-time-only process, you cant do that again, so make sure your Hitman 2 Safegame has all the unlocks you want. It will also not snych between the games, Hitman 3 and 2 are their own Safegames and instances. Playing Hitman 2 after the carry over will not affect HItman 3 in any way.

The last point on the list is the preoder Trinity Pack. They said they wont be part of the Standard or Deluxe edition post launch, which gives us hope they release it as DLC on both Steam next year, and Epic some time later this year. If they dont tho, and you DONT carry over your progress from Steam to Epic, this means if they dont allow Epic to Steam next year, that these suits will only be available on Epic. Take that into consideration.

Thats all for now. I truley hope they can confirm if we either can transfer back to Steam, or from Steam to Steam EVEN if we did the Steam to Epic transition before. Unless, I will wait for the first ET and then consider.

Thanks for reading, I hope it gives you a better understanding on what to do, if youre uncertain!
