I wasn’t going to do this but there are 4 dedicated Hawke’s Bay variations I’ve created: Nightcall, Politician Day, Politician Sunset and Politician Sunrise.
Do you want Hantu Port adding to this slot and making it 6 variations and leaving Sgail with just 2? Or would you rather keep Hantu in Sgail and ‘spread the load’?
Poll redundant, I’ve decided to make two versions of Hantu Port: One for Sgail, One for Hawke’s Bay, just pick whichever one you prefer
Update: PP has begun work on making the SDK support a new Hawke’s Bay slot. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out like I was thinking. Right now it can only detect if Hawke’s Bay is active in the syndicate, so if you have Ambrose and Hawke’s Bay in the same syndicate, the SDK will just spit out Hawke’s Bay twice (Once for Hawke’s Bay, once for Ambrose)… we (mainly he) are working on new solutions
A new map slot for Freelancer is here: Hawke’s Bay! Now you no longer share Hawke’s Bay with Haven Island, and as a gift I’ve made a bunch of variants for it (Nothing crazy though)
UPDATE: Turns out the SDK2 dll seems to work fine with SDK1.8? I got one crash but I’m pretty sure that’s because I was minimized while loading. Let me know what happens for you.
The Peacock plugin has not been updated, it will not support the new map slot. However you can use the SDK mod with Peacock; the only reason the plugin exists is because when the mod first launched lots of people were having issues with the SDK, but that’s almost a year ago now, I think a lot of that has been fixed.
HOPEFULLY fixes Landslide (and other Sapienza bonus mission) exit bug (@Hardware or someone pls test for me)
Fixes game crashing when The Politician - Midday is loaded
Integrates Peacock Plugin as an SMF option rather than separate download (You still need to grab a JSON from either website or Nexus SDK download)
Gives Peacock Plugin support for Hawke’s Bay map slot (Option must be selected). Currently cannot select variants, 4x Hawke’s Bay variants on by default.
UPDATE: To the four people who’ve downloaded this version from Nexus already, and anyone who’s downloaded from SMF, I’ve just re-uploaded it because there was a teeny mistake where The Politician Midday loaded Sunset instead of Midday. Not doing another version just for this because it’s so tiny and only an hour and a bit has past
Due to unfortunate circumstances, it turns out I accidentally overrode the working version of the helicopter exit fix before Zipping and uploading it. It should now actually work for you. While I was there I finally got around to returning the dumpsters to Chongqing in Noodle Massacre, so don’t stress about Hide and Seek any more.
Hantu Port: Actually fixes helicopter exit
Chongqing: Noodle Massacre - Restores dumpsters to streets and restaurant
Hypothetically they could all share Hawke’s Bay’s slot, but they couldn’t all have their own slot, no
I wonder why this is? Is there a hard limit to how many map slots you can have? If so, how were you able to add Hawke’s Bay? If you’ve explained already in an earlier post here I will scroll up and check for it.
Looks like I explained on DIscord and Nexus but not here. Long story short: Hawke’s Bay has been there the whole time, they’ve just set it to disabled and had 90% of it missing. But the important “Destinations” list had HB in there already as an option that could be assigned to something. And the way they’ve done it it’s built into the game engine or something, so we don’t have the means to add our own entries.
I’m skipping details but that’s all you need to know
Interesting. Are the ICA facility, the yacht and the train disabled but still possible to add just like Hawke’s Bay or is that different for those levels?
The passenger train variant has been on hold for three months while I waited for a member to come up with a solution to make the map more feasible (Totally re-worked carriages, removing NPC pathfinding issues, etc). Sadly it’s become clear that solution won’t be done any time soon, so I’ve resumed work on a “Beta” version of passenger train.
The downsides are:
Will have a lot of the non-passengery carriages still
NPCs are unable to move between sections where there’s an obstacle in story mode (giant logs, military vehicle, etc)
There cannot be a Showdown due to suspects being unable to reach exits in other sections
The Constant’s cool carriage is empty because of trickery IO did where NPCs can only go in it after you’ve detached the train and you teleport to a duplicate of the train
However the upside is it will be ready soon! Perhaps within a week, who knows. And now that it’s almost ready for release I just wanted to ask one last time what Freelancer map slot you’d like it to use. You voted for Ambrose Island last time, but I can’t feel like it would be frustrating for a player to pack a sniper for Ambrose only to end up on the train.
So actually think through the logic of what map should be picked. New York because it’s indoors and has similar close quarter focus and basically no variants? Ambrose because you dislike it and it also has no real variants besides ToD changes? Hawke’s Bay because you don’t like HB much and treat it like a free slot? Colorado because you’d rather play literally anything else than Colorado?
What map slot would you like the passenger train to share?
Ambrose Island
New York
Hawke’s Bay
Colorado
I won’t be playing the train but you better give me an option or I’ll ruin the poll
The train has arrived! In beta form, because I couldn’t do the things I wanted, which means no showdown version at this stage. Can be applied to Colorado, Hawke’s Bay or New York map slots. I’ve also done some bugfixes that have been reported since last update
Comes in day and night versions. There’s no gameplay difference between the two.
Can be put on Hawke’s Bay, Colorado or New York. It starts on New York by default, as that narrowly won the poll, and in my opinion was the best choice due to being a close quarters map where people where Wintery clothing, and it also had very little alternate variants. Use the variant picker website to change what map you’d like it on
There will be bugs. NPCs cannot go between certain sections… for example all the office NPCs are stuck in the office area. It also seems like since there were never meant to be NPCs that you’re targeting in the cabins and other areas, there are some ‘seeing through walls’ issues in spots… but there are also doors which NPCs should be able to see through due to glass yet they cannot… blame IO for both. There also seems to be an uncommon crash to desktop cause by an NPC suddenly trying to move a vast distance (200m+) in a single go… no NPCs are scripted to do this but it might happen unscripted if a guard runs from one side of the train to give backup in combat, then has to return to the other side of the train at combat end. Please let me know if this is happening for you.
There are about 44 potential targets currently
Alerted Bricks for NY and Colorado are disabled to account for Romania. They will be off even if you don’t have Romania enabled because the variant website doesn’t currently have a way to enable them based on your choices. It is possible to manually add them back by going into the JSON, finding Colorado/NY territory takedown and set hardbricks to [] (Empty brackets). Only do this if you will not have Romania in that slot, or the game will crash when you get Romania
Thankyou to @Kercyx for doing furnishings (and de-furnishings) of new/different areas and for doing agility-related placements and fixes
