2016 and H2 are death (in terms of nostalgia) for me. One of the best games I’ve ever played, ICA Facility/Paris and Miami Intro are pure Gold. I’m not as old as some of ya but Damn I’m old.
I still remember when the beta came out. My friend had it but i didn’t, and he wouldn’t let me play it lol. Do you guys remember how the 2015 beta had the same slow motion effect after a headshot like Absolution.
Oh, and until like Sapienza’s release we had a few, fancy extra takedowns which were removed cuz???
- Takedown where 47 punches twice, then does an aikido/judo kind of throw and finishes them off with a punch to the head.
- Punch to the stomach, low kick to the leg, and then grabs their arm and drives them to the ground and finishes them with a punch to the head.
You can see both of these removed moves here at 3:32
There was also a weird out of character ear clap move done on civilians seen here at 0:26
I wouldn’t say the whole game is but it’s mad to think season 1 came out in 2016. I remember how hyped the forum was waiting for the Paris mission to come out and then waiting 1/2 months for the next mission to release.
It’s funny cause I understand the criticisms of the episodic release for 2016, but as a locked-in Hitman fan who was going to put hundreds of hours into the game either way, it was fantastic.
The drip feed of levels encouraged you to pour over every detail of each map, learning everything about them, and nearly 100% completing each one before the next level arrived.
I wouldn’t want IOI to return to that model. But it sure was entertaining for me at the time.
Considering it nearly killed IOI, I don’t think they’d want to go back to it either… It’s not like anyone actually likes them anyway.
True, I don’t think we’re likely to see a return to an episodic release schedule in future IOI titles.
But an episodic sales structure… cough Sapienza pack cough cough… I wouldn’t put it past them…
That’s kinda the point of my previous post, though. I did like the episodic release. For me, personally, as a Hitman fan, it worked. But, despite liking it myself, I wouldn’t want it to return for the greater good of the franchise I want to succeed.
I hope IOI are going to go big for the 10 Year Anniversary in January next year!! Imagine that stacked roadmap!
I loved the episodes. A lot of the OG players did as well. It allowed the player to focus on one map an entire month and master it. I didn’t get the same feeling and enjoyment out of hitman 2 & 3 as it was released all at once.
Sure we could just focus on one map ourselves, but it was being able to do it with the community at the same time. It was one of the best gaming experiences i ever had while gaming in my life.
