Hitman World of Assassination - 3.140 - January 26th Patch Notes

I believe they plan on reintroduction of particles. It only makes sense to remove them in Freelancer but we’ve had it far too long in regular gameplay. Guess I gotta switch back to HITMAN 2 if I want to explore Villa Caruso in the Sapienza summer missions and Patient Zero.

The map in Hokkaido has been bugged since launch to not display properly. They did a partial fix in the patch last October, but it still isn’t fully fixed.
Here’s how it looks in Hitman 2:

Here’s how it looked in Hitman 3 pre-October patch:

And here’s how it looks now:

They fixed everything except for the garden and areas between the walkways, which is the most noticeably incorrect part of the map.

As a point of clarification for anyone reading this who isn’t involved in Hitman speedrunning:

Downpatching is possible (in online game mode no less), see here for a guide: Downpatching | HitRuns Wiki

However, the Hitman speedrun community has traditionally only played on current patch, and retroactively removed runs from the speedrun.com leaderboards as newer patches appeared that invalidated past runs.

The Frote7 Speedrun Community Discord similarly has historically only allowed current patch runs for their contract competitions / roulette.

There are several reasons for why downpatching has historically not been used in speedruns much (both for speedrun.com and in F7SC etc), including inclusion for console players, avoiding creating too many speedrun categories (e.g. downpatched and current patch), and simply that the methods for downpatching were not super well documented, especially with the Epic Game edition of the game.

Overall, speedrunning has always been a community defined endeavor.

The in-game leaderboards are and always have been meaningless due to lack of verification of cheaters, the fact that old patch times are never scrubbed from them, no cross-platform leaderboards in-game, etc.

I’m glad that IOI is willing to listen to the community here and reverse an unpopular change to support the speedrunners who want to remain on current patch.

I’m reminded of the time that IOI similarly brought back shoulder swap after removing it at the start of Hitman 3’s launch in 2021.

Makes me kind of wish they changed and/or reordered the destinations tab; if it’s “World of Assassination” officially now, they don’t really need to keep it divided by season anymore and they could have put Ambrose where it belongs instead of at the end. They could have also done away with references to seasons in most other areas of the menus (except for possibly one) as well. Oh well, it’s mostly just my OCD talking in this case…

Maybe they will yet. I mean, they could have done this whole World of Assassination thing two years ago when the game first released; instead, they just made all three separate games purchasable at once in a bundle. Almost, but not quite, the same thing. And now they’ve done this. Not too hard to figure that they’d eventually reshuffle the destinations to make it match the idea of one uninterrupted story.

Uhhhh
Perfect example of how fixing some issues cause new ones in others :joy:

So, is the game called Hitman 3 in people’s library? Or has it changed to WOA? For me it’s still H3. On Epic.

I haven’t seen that stuff yet but I emetically poisoned some guards in Chongqing and I saw one like 10 minutes later STILL puking!

I mean, the comparison i’d more use was the slow homing briefcase, as that too was an unintentional bug; they fixed it, but made an extra item that goes slowly.

Shoulder swapping was just removed with very strange reasoning.

That’s not what they were doing though? They fixed it while doing something else, but saw the backlash and wanted to address it. It wasn’t even an unpopular change, which is a hell of a biased statement there as it implies everyone hated it; It was controversial, sure, but there were equal sides of the debate for and against its removal.

Same on Steam it seems.

Yeah, I wanted to ask, @Clemens_IOI & @Travis_IOI are you guys planning on changing the game tile to the WOA branding?

It’s currently still H3 on Xbox as well.

The Antique Curved Knife was also silent when using it to kill. I wonder if it got fixed too?

Robotic voices? I don’t think I’ve ever heard these. Anything in a vid anywhere to hear an example?

Also, unfortunately, Lucky Ducky Suit still counts as it own thing instead of suit, so sorry to whoever wanted to use it in their SA runs. But on the other hand, it seems to get wet in rain now.

In earlier blogs IOI spoke about collectors items being persistent, but I just lost a collectors item from dropping it in the level and now it’s gone.

I don’t know if this is a bug or if items are only persistent when dying in a campaign, some clarification would be great as it currently isn’t clear what is meant.

They’re persistent like weapons, you can still lose them if you take them out but they’re safe on the wall.

Maybe they can be bought again from a vendor? Someone posted that it works for the unique weapons you obtain from mastery.

I don’t think I understand. You can buy a Sieker for 4.000M or a collectors version for 40.000M, but they’re both “persistent” until you lose them in a level. But what reason is there then to buy the 40K one?

I thought the whole point was you got permanent items you could never lose.

The normal sieker goes in the tool box & gets deleted when you fail a campaign. The super sieker goes on the weapon wall & stays there until you drop it.

The Collectors items work just like weapons. They can still be lost if left on a level, or you die in a level. But, if you leave it in your safehouse wall, they do not dissappear when you fail a campaign

The basic siekers and syringes and lockpicks WILL dissapear on a campaign failure, because they’re in the Tool briefcases
