To be honest, I havenāt played The Source and The Vector that much atall, maybe 3 times each altogether. I think Iāll give both another shot just for the sake of fairness.
Mind you, Iāve still yet to even play the Special Assignment for Mumbai in Hitman 2 either, should get around to that.

The Author always disappointed me, the church felt kind of old hat by the time we got to the GOTY edition. Wish they used the area over by the Sanguine store more for this, for the sake of some change of scenery. Was really surprised to see it unscathed with Patient Zero so low.

Well, I went and replayed The Source and The Vector. I genuinely donāt think Iāve replayed these 2 since they were just released for Hitman (2016). The Sourceā¦ is OK. I think there are elements I like, I think converting Ken Morganās bizarrely huge suite into the cult venue makes sense. That and to me, the band area of the hotel is the worst part of Club 27, so the fact that you can just ignore that part of the hotel is good, I think the only challenge involving it is the sniper challenge. Saying that though, itās nothing special. Donāt really see why there are 2 targets, feel like the Sister should of been cut, make it a lean quick mission with just 1 target. I didnāt spend too much time on this mission, but I think Iāll go back.
As for The Vectorā¦ Iām surprised how much I liked this. I donāt know if the Patient Zero stuff ever got any major patches after its initial release, but I remember this mission being very janky. I donāt know, sniping someone to hide their body into a bush seemed really wonky when I played it back then, like the whole sniping itself felt very unsatisfying. But here, I really liked it. It is basically more of a mini-game than a proper mission, but considering how overlong the main sniper missions can be, I welcome it. 4 random targets + Paine is a good number I find. Got most of the challenges in about 5 attempts, and by the end starting to understand the routes of each bunch of soldiers.
Pleasant surprise, glad I went back. Feel a little guilty for downvoting. Wellā¦ a little, I still donāt think either mission reaches the top 8, and I still think that the Patient Zero DLC was a bit undercooked, even if the reasons IOI made it at the time were understandable.
I like The Author the most of the Patient Zero missions, partly because it uses the best map in Hitman, and also partly because it does feel the most polished. Granted, it feels more polished because by setting it at midnight, it means they could just get rid off unneccesary NPCs and there arenāt any reused NPCs wandering around that take you out of there. The church area is well designed enough to sustain a whole mission. It is the weakest of the 4 Sapienza missions, but I do think it is the best PZ mission.
Itās amazing how many nooks and crannys Sapienza has that never really ever get used, that sort of area with the fashion shop and the toilets is one of them. I think the issue there is how tight a space the fashion shop really is, hence why you canāt do much with it.

I think The Source, Club 27, and The Icon are the weakest of the bunch here.
The Vector tried to do something very unique for its time and I loved how itās just one big reference to St. Petersburg Stakeout. It took me a bit to realise that it works differently from the other sniper assassin levels (mainly in how accident kills arenāt useless) but after that it was majestic. It does get repetitive after a while though.
Patient Zero deserves to pass mainly because of the virus mechanic and the atmosphere. Those two elements alone propel the level to unimaginable heights.
Icon has some of the best kills in WOA in my opinion but the level itself falls flat when you see how restrictive the layout is.
The Source is just a boring reskin of Club 27 and we all know the latterās problems.

Thatās true, and the church is very well designed. Still, if it were me I would have put the book reading on the balcony outside the store or in the fashion store itself (still allows you to infiltrate through the cafe next door, or one of the 3 entrances). That doesnāt seem to different from the inside of the church. Thereās also the bathrooms below, and the pier. Not sure how much good they would do but theyāre there.
I think Iād prefer if the targets met at the pier, and they could still do the photoshoot in the crypt. That was actually the only part of killing Black that I found interesting, since the crypt never had anything going on in the past. Infiltrating the locked down graveyard has been the focus of both Landslide and the Prince already, so it was a bit stale.
Akram was a fun target though, I liked killing a target in the apartments, and it was neat that his connected to two others so you have options.
