Hitman 3 - Year 2 Update (Jan 20, 2022)

Must admit, kinda hope this isn’t a hub base for Agent 47 as the amount of work on this from IO feels alot for that and would rather just have it as a whole new map like a bigger detailed Nightcall mission.

Who knows maybe it will be both a base hub and a mission.

Reminder for those who, still, don’t know, You can join the Leak Investigators group if you’re fine with leaks where we’ve found quite a lot of interesting stuff.

But remember that leaks are allowed there and there only

Same to me that was hard level 2 i was stuck because i did the all challanges on the way after 20 replay i finally finish that all 3 levels and 100% Dartmoor

Agreed it was hard! I’d only attempted it a handful of times before today and managed to get all 3 levels done

I used the tactic of knocking at least 1 inhibitor out instead of killing them before the next round, that gave me time to collect what I needed as well as prepare all the traps for the next round.

I’m on your way of thinking of this one.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this isn’t a hideout for 47 and more of a mission like ‘Nightcall’.

It would be cool to have it as a base, but maybe have a mission take place there too, like if someone comes after 47 and he has to take them out. Then it could be both!

Yeah. It could be used as a hub in bonus campaign and then in final mission work similarily to “Redemption at Gontranno” from Silent Assassin with Diana being held hostage and 47 starting without any equipment with his objective being reaching his armory and using it’s weapons to obliterate all targets.

I hope it will be like the Dartmoor Garden Show with its two starting locations that separate two game mode.

Like :

  • Normal starting location, (mission, game mode where it’s the home base between random missions, first tour with exposition, anything else it could be…)
  • Chill starting location (no objectives/time limit/all weapons unlocked in the range, cosmetic and easter eggs, obviously unlocked after full mastery)

Or maybe it will just be a HUB, with missions and all ready to be launched/reseted in the diegetic. Honestly I trust the team.

But that will be for spring, January Hype will be on the Elusive Target Arcade.

I wonder how many secrets the hideout will have? Think of the secret room bunker in Whittleton Creek, or Croft Manor from… I dunno… the one (TR Game :robot: ) with all the secret rooms.

Edit: Speaking of which… :gun: :gun:

By the way, I know that we are all hyped for the “safehouse” (even if we don’t know if it’s one) for spring.
But since the january main content is expected to be the Elusive Target Arcade, does anyone have any predictions, expectations for it ?

I still see two main possibilities :

  • We earn tokens by completing main missions/escalations/etc, we spend the tokens to have one try at an Elusive Target, to unlock new ones, or maybe even more. And when I say tokens, I mean “maybe even a money system, wink wink nudge nudge IO it would be great to have one back”.

  • The elusive targets are in curated playlists, every time you play one (with success or failure) the playlist goes to the next one. The only way to have a retry is to play the other ones until it loops back.

Both would leave the Elusive Targets exceptionnal, elusive, by making us earn them.

It could obviously “just” be a selection menu, but I feel that not using them to create a new long-term gameplay loop/incentive to replay would be a waste of an opportunity.
Especially since after a year most people, I imagine, are spent on the usual long term goal of “unlock the mastery levels and the challenges”, having done it or over it as an incentive.

Let’s have some hype for the Arcade.

The could also link the ETs in the arcade to your overall H3 profile level - since right now it’s completely meaningless and is just for bragging rights. ie it could be that you get x amount of ETs unlocked from the very start as a new player, then as you play the overall game and reach specific profile level milestones, additional ETs are unlocked for you to play going forward.

Regardless of how they do it, it will also be interesting to see if it is locked behind the online requirement or if it will be available offline as well.

Well, the basement has a shooting gallery/range. Perhaps… Oh wait. That comes later.

But yeah! Earning tokens sounds like a good idea. I’d hope getting them wouldn’t be too grindy. Maybe playing contracts on a location where the ET is found. Like playing contracts with certain conditions in Chongqing to earn credits to replay The Rage. Or maybe just playing the regular mission and doing whatever… It’s hard to say how such a system might be implemented. I think it’s cool though!

I would guess IO Insider as usual on thursday, the 13th, a week before the start of year 2.
Maybe some tease before, announcement of the stream at the start of the week.

The current week was certainly meetings, start of the year, returns from holidays, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the roadmap was shot/edited during it, amongst other preparation of communication material (screenshots, videos, pitches to the press and partners, finalisation of the preparation of which informations to give and which are still to retain…).

Unless they choose to have a “steady and continuous flow of information only in the week of the release” approach. Ending with an anniversary stream.

But honestly, I wouldn’t really go and try to predict the exact day of pre-release informations. It’s a neverending, overanalysed, many time reflecting only one self and never accurate predicament. Sometimes it’s much more enjoyable to go with the flow.

More surprises, fewer hype burnout and fewer disappointement.

Now the real question is : where and in what clothes will Clemens present the january roadmap ?

I’d personally be down for Elusive Target Arcade just to be a big list of the Elusive Targets and I pick one and launch it. I’d rather be able to play the content I want to play without jumping through any extra hoops.

The rewards are another thing. I’d say move all the location suits to Mastery Level 20 for their related location, and make the Undying Items unlockable somewhere and maybe keep the other rewards exclusive to having done the targets when they were ‘live.’ Though I also wouldn’t mind if they decided to just make everything available for everyone.
