I heard it was abysmal on Xbox, but as a PC player it was okay until the end of H2’s life cycle, long after IO stopped doing content
I feel compelled to counter a user’s comments above because I’ve loved that Diana has been incorporated more into the story. As a female gamer she’s an important character to me (not that gender is everything to do with it, of course) and this, plus the ambiguity and exploration of 47’s psychology / his past and purpose have been what’s elevated these games from being ones I’ve enjoyed since 2002 to becoming my all-time favourite series. Hoping for more with Year 2!
Not to mention, it’s a natural progression to both of their characters. Diana had been the sole human connection 47 has maintained in his life since waking up in the asylum. With no past, she’s his only tether. As for Diana, 47 is the only person she can trust because of who he is. There’s no pretense, how he is with her is how he is, so she can trust him, and he’s dependable. Given her line of work, she can’t maintain any relationships that could become serious, and who could she trust? I imagine she probably had one night stands with attractive men here and there to satisfy her physical needs, but 47 is the only man whom she feels she can be open with, and there’s no risk of him hurting her with falsehood like anyone else could when considering her field. So the fact that she became more involved with his life over time instead of just being the voice on the line to mission control makes absolute sense.; they’re all each other has.
It’s also why it should never turn romantic. They depend on each other to fulfill too many roles that we as social animals assign certain individuals to; friends, family, coworkers, passing acquaintances you see on the street sometimes, significant others, etc… It can’t be narrowed down to just any one of those roles at this point, because they’ve taken up so much space in each other’s social life. The only people 47 interacts with more directly end up dead a few minutes later! So keep Diana’s key role, IO, but don’t narrow it by making it a romantic one. 47 is the one guy in the world who absolutely does not need a life partner.
On Xbox, it wasn’t bad at the start. However, when they added Santa Fortuna and the Phantom Suit, it was on life support. I didn’t have too much problem finding people but most of the people I matched with weren’t familiar with the Hitman mechanics. I tried to communicate and teach those who responded via headset (and some the other way commenting on my H2 rank asking for help), but some did not respond and I showed them no mercy.
If I recall correctly in the grind, there was one who was doing the kill everyone to try make for easy targets. However, I was able to kill 4 of the targets efficiently before he started his unseen kills. I was able to squeak out the win on that one.
After the grind, with Xbox’s Looking for Games and Clubs, I left myself available for matches. Most where inquiring for help in learning the mode or the grind. I had no problem helping with the knowledge, but refused to do the grind.
After the last roadmap in June 2020, I took a break from the game, but by then, the mode was dead.
Surely the developers are able to make a far superior matchmaking system by now? The 2018 system wasn’t the best but I don’t imagine it would take too many resources to make a proper version now, especially considering the larger player base.
Maybe one of those modes might be a hitman roulette thing
Dual Ballers or there will be riots in the streets. Raining Cats and Dogs. People wearing pants backwards. Absolute chaos.
Yeah the modes going to be. Camera modes where are you have to take the prettiest pictures in the world of assassination. That’s going to be making food with 47 where are you have to make the best food for the hottest critics. And the last new mood it’s going to be selling and buying with the most famous assassin where are you S 47 Sell and buy everything to be the richest it’s all about the price not the quality. That’s gonna be for 2022
I was just watching some Bigmooney videos and they got me wondering if maybe one of the new modes/ways to play could be a randomizer?
The fact that they mention “new modes/ways to play” either involves new gameplay mechanics in whatever the new levels are, or some new separate modes like Escalations and the like, or a mix of the two.
I realized that the fact of us getting 12 more months of support is very good news, since it at least means that IOI’s design, coding, gameplay team, etc, have some idea or some sort of tentative plan of what big content drops they might accomplish over the course of the year, leading up to December 2022, which is nice.
Reminds me of Wolfenstein New Order! They had something like that too, also well executed.
A shooting range challenge, collectibles in the mission to decorate it with, stuff like that, that would be cool. Just any sort of unlock. Maybe the still wrapped furniture gets “dewrapped” the more you upgrade it etc.
Or it is indeed a new location and we dont get a hideout, and all those weapons at the racks are just there to have a cool gun wall without actually designing 15 new guns for the game, and we just, again, assume something that’s not there.
So I’ll stay pessimistic and focus all my joy and hype on VR and RTX, which are 100% confirmed and not 100% speculation with traces of hints.
Not to downplay anything, but this is probably the last year of Hitman content for a long time, I don’t want it to feel like “Well, not what I expected”
I hear you not wanting to get overhyped. I can’t help myself. I’m over hyped
If we get the ET arcade, and one new level on a new map that would be enough for me. It kinda sounds like we may get that on top of some rework levels and maybe a hideout. It’s all so exciting.
I hope such “new ways to play” pave way to a bunch of new challenges too.
I like not only the achievement pop up, but also decrypting a pic + short/redacted description to figure out what it takes to do it.
As I’ve completed pretty much everything, I’m missing new challenges!
I’d just fear to be dissapointed. If I get hyped for two or more maps, what if one of them turns out to be a Sniper Assassin map? Stuff like this circles my mind and keeps me away from going full blown hype just yet, until I see what exactly is in that new roadmap
Until then tho, Im more than satisfied with Hitman VR and RTX. RTX is going to look so damn stunning. I just hope its more than only reflections and also shadows, and light.
And VR, woah… sure there are games that promise that, but nothing on the scale of HItman. I can’t wait to borrow a friends VR headset and play Sapienza, wait on the clocktower for my targets to come out, my trusty Ave Maria in hands…!
Or if it’s another Hawke ‘s Bay or if it’s just a small area where you have to kill waves of enemies ala The Wrath Escalation.
It makes sense to try to not to get overhyped. New maps could mean anything. Personally I’m hoping for two maps like New York/ Haven, but if that’s not the case then I at least saved some money.
New York / Haven would be great. New York really needed an outside area tho, just something small but so we can see the bank from outside. New York really showed me how important an outside view is for the feeling of size. Seeing a building from outside, not just in a cutscene, really makes you see and feel how big it really is.
But speaking of wishes and hype and what would be great, my ideal idea of a roadmap would be:
-Two maps bigger than New York / Haven tho, both felt small
-Some sort of randomizer mod that changes up the game a bit with new camera locations etc
-Lots of bug fixes
-A new bonus story like Patient Zero
-Bonus Missions for Hitman 2 locations
-A hideout with new gameplay mechanics like buying or collecting things to put into there
-And some smaller featurs like dual wielding every handgun, getting unlocks of the remaining guns / gadgets in the gamefiles like the Coop Sniper Guns, etc
-And some quality of life updates, like the menu navigation, color grading of levels, bloom, etc
That would be a dream.
Consider that the sum total of information that we’ve been provided is a couple pictures, one of which has a shooting range in it, and a statement that new maps would be coming. That has been extrapolated out by players as not only being some sort of safe house, but an ostentatious one which may or may not fit 47’s style. We’re also now guessing about bonus missions, new campaigns, and making a lot of assumptions with next to no info.
I love to guess and conjecture about what might be coming, but i won’t be disappointed if it turns out to be less than “everything”.
Pretty much this, we only need to wait around ~2 months to see what it actually is. Lets try to keep ourselfs contained until then!
Okay, but for real now. I am actually pretty hyped for new stuff upcoming next year. In my opinion, that forest villa we see, is indeed gonna be hideout - but, it will be absouletely free, you don’t have to buy it. You’ll be able to roam around, test your weapon skills, try on your clothes, pick up and insepct your inventory. But also, this will be an alternate way to replay all of missions from new trilogy, including ET Arcade. I have no idea what it will be, and I’m curious if it is gonna be ET’s from all seasons or only season 3, because trailer included only those.
I also hope that it will mean improving offline mode. Imho, not all things will be added to offline mode - for example, Contracts will be most likely still online. But, ET Arcade could be offline aswell, unless there is some sort of catch to it.
I don’t care much for VR, but I am happy that PC and Xbox players will be able to enjoy H3 in VR aswell. And I don’t know much about raytracing, I don’t even think my laptop would be able to display it, but eh, it seems like a nice eyecandy.
That would be a dream, I dont think IOI would implement a hideout without any sort of use. IF they add an hideout.
For RTX, well, it turns some of the ugly sideeffects of SSR to non. A good example is the floor on the Bank map:
With RTX, it will look stunning even if you look on the floor:
And not just vanish.
Lightning and Shadow RTX is perfectly shown in Metro Exodus how subtle but impressivly looking the skies and lightning can be.
(Also I hope with RTX light and shadows, the skies will look better, and the color “tints” and bloom might be gone)
