In theory one benefit of a “live service” game should be frequent patches for things like those driers or the challenges that don’t unlock, but despite the “liver service” aspect IOI do monthly patches for whatever reason. Surely budget and time related.
patches take a lot of planning… especially when they have to apply it across literally every platform available in the modern day
The most blatant evidence of this is in Sapienza with all these oversized monstrosities .
HITMAN 2
A few photos I took from Colorado. Not bad honestly. The only thing I spotted was a few small things on the tables from 2016 are missing, but it looks pretty good overall.
Also if it’s a large number of things to be fixed, I’m sure they would rather work and release the fixes all in one instead of one by one
Hey now. I’ve been waiting for the see-through dryers to come out to market! Come on man!!
Full patches, sure, but again the point of a “live service” game is they don’t have to do full patches. They could see the missing driers and realize it’s a checkmark missing in some table, and quickly check it and upload the change. MMOs and stuff do this all the time. The reality is of course that while they treat it like a live service game, they don’t really patch it like one.
Which is fine really, I’m not complaining, just pointing out the mismatch. I’d guess the way consoles patch has a lot to do with it.
yes, the fact that they have to release the patches on console (which is a longer process than a PC patch) kinda slows down the process
Am I the only one who never notices this kind of stuff lol
Like I get it its a slight downgrade but don’t you think it’s a little nitpicky to say it’s a disappointment that IO removed small things that only <1% of the playerbase will see virtually none of the time?
well the LOD definitely should be fixed imo. the pop-in is very noticeable. i dont care about some of the tree assets or the out of bounds textures, but the LOD should be fixed
The distant stuff looks worse to me in general, more obviously 2D, but I thought it was because of toned down depth of field. Maybe they actually changed those assets to save space though, or maybe they’re affected by the LOD issue. I agree with @cake941 that it is hopefully a glitch they fix on PC, and not an intentional regression. I don’t see why storage space would impact LOD.
I feel that a game that needs an online connection even for a day one update with essential features and patches is incomplete. If I can’t bust it out and play with no Internet connection I don’t consider it a finished game. Developers nowadays are selling the sizzle not the steak and I wish it wasn’t so. Just my opinion
Sure. But why remove it in the first place?
I think Hitman 3 at least on PS5/XSX should be the BEST version objectively visually. So it’s weird they downgraded it. Makes sense for the PS4/XBONE versions sure but not for next gen.
Performance issues, weight reduction, etc
People tend to compare good and bad. Especially when we’ve seen so many different legacy maps since 2016. They add reflections, but remove a lot of small things. I agree that the game has good optimization, but at what cost?
The devil is in the details
I guess. H1 still runs the best for me which I find a little odd
I thought we were just speaking of PC ultra settings with the LOD. Is the console version worse as well? Console version uses medium setting LOD if I remember the Digital Foundry video correctly.
