IOI Interactive youtube channel released the first instalment of serie called CRAFT TALKS, where different developers, their works and their roles at IOI are put in the spotlights.

The first topic is with Andrzej Zawadski and Andreas Krogh about game design.

“We assemble ideas from the team, talk it through and make it possible.”

(slightly related, even if it’s slower than I wanted, I am still preparing transcripts of the IOI live, monthly, and insiders with the developers as they are full of information about the games and the works done by the IOI dev team)

Like before, I don’t know if this is the best topic to post this. But I don’t think we have a general Hitman/IOI news and annoucements thread.

IOI posted a recap of their previous year. Most of it is already known here, but it’s always good to have everything in one place to look at the whole year and everything that happened at once.

And obviously congratulations to IOI for all of it are in orders.

Now that we’ve arrived in March, we’ve also spent time looking back at the previous year and what we accomplished together as a team.

2021 was a significant year for us as a company in various ways and we’ve recapped some of those key moments in one place for posterity.

Launching HITMAN 3

This is the most obvious one, but also the first chronologically, so the perfect place to start. HITMAN 3 was the first game that IOI has published in many years and significant given our journey to independence in the last few years. As the biggest digital launch and best-rated game in the franchise’s history, we are extremely proud of everyone who contributed to the title’s success.

For more than 50 million players, Agent 47’s spy-thriller story has kept them engaged for more than 5 years and across three games. It all wrapped up with HITMAN 3, but we’re not quite finished yet with new maps and modes on the horizon.

Welcoming new hires

With all of that new content for the Hitman universe, (not to mention Project 007 and an unannounced project), we’ve been busy welcoming new team members.

During 2021, a grand total of 81 people from 34 different countries joined our team and we couldn’t be more excited. We’re all looking forward to getting to know them better, learning and growing together to keep making impactful games.

We have welcomed many new faces during a time of increased remote working around the world and we’ve had to adapt how we make everyone feel welcome and comfortable in their new surroundings. Feeling part of the team during remote working has been particularly challenging, but we’ve introduced new and creative ways to adapt to the challenge.

IOI opens new studio in Barcelona

As part of our ambitious plans for expansion, our third elite studio IO Interactive Barcelona was opened in April 2021. Barcelona is an exciting hub for technology and top talent, making it an ideal choice for a new IOI studio.

Located in Southern Europe, IOI Barcelona will give us a fantastic opportunity to expand into greater European markets and work with local talent. We’re looking forward to continue development on all of our existing and future projects and deliver games that will make an impact.

Our Studio Head at IOI Barcelona is Eduard López Plans knows IOI extremely well after working in our Copenhagen studio for several years.

“We are working hard to establish a good work culture and environment, where everyone can thrive and really have a say in, and impact the future, of the games we make at IOI.”

Making an Impact

Our mission is to make impactful games. We also want to share our success with organisations and companies that make a significant impact outside of the gaming world. Over the last few years, after finding our feet as an independent studio, we’ve supported direct causes and wider companies. This year, we asked our employees to nominate where we could donate and we’re pleased to have made donations to WWF and Doctors Without Borders at the end of 2021.

More recently, we also made a donation to Red Cross as a result of the events developing in Ukraine at the time of publishing this article in 2022.

Looking ahead

We have new content coming up for HITMAN 3, as well as continued progress on Project 007 and our unannounced project.

The future is most certainly looking bright for 47 after Hitman 3’s huge success.

I believe Hitman would have always been in safe hands, but after Hitman 3 I think it’s almost guaranteed we’ve got another few games of 47 left to come in the hopefully not too distant future.

PC is gonna get Raytracing later this month. :sparkles:

To make it a bit easier for you, here’s what HITMAN 3 Year 2 looks like from here on out:
Today: May Roadmap
May 24: Patch 3.110 arrives with PC RayTracing
July: Ambrose Island map (aka Codename Rocky)
Second half of 2022: Freelancer game mode coming to HITMAN 3.

I’m more concerned about the Patch 3.110 and what issues will be (finally) fixed. After years of HITMAN there’s so much things to adjust and improve to get a real satisfying experience :+1:

Wishing a good May gaming to all Hitman players.

Yay!! IOI has been having some monthly accessibiliy talks recently, and they’ve just had one with Steve Saylor, a prominent advocate and member of the blind gaming community. He’s also helped give input on accessibility for other major game releases such as The Last of Us Part II, Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.)

(This thread has really been inactive since May?? ok wow)

Don´t wanna necrobump, but I haven´t seen it posted anywhere else (if it has been, please correct me) and this is kinda the most appropriate place. WoA is getting a PS5 disc release later this month:

Not a HITMAN 3 or WoA news, but for the franchise as a whole:

Codename 47 and Silent Assassin vinyl are coming in February 2024. There are both limited and “regular” editions.

When did this happen, and why

This is honestly probably the most confusing thing they’ve done in terms of editions. They had everything fairly simplified with the World of Assassination rebrand, and now they’ve brought back buying a separate game’s content individually. At least for 2016, weirdly there’s no similar option for just Hitman 2 or just Hitman 3 (maybe they’ll come later?).

So much for keeping the bundles short and sweet.

Two steps forward, one step back. Probably with an additional two steps back if there’s a strictly Hitman 2 and solo Hitman 3…
Then the bundle confusion will be right back where we started…

I mean, we all love IOI and everything, but blimey do they make it hard for us core fans to cheerlead to our less-invested friends when it comes to business decisions.

Yet another way to segment the experience of buying HITMAN and an additional unnecessary complication added to the mix? Real galaxy brain stuff from the commercial teams over there.

Oh. It’s also on consoles.

No one is safe from this confusion. Why’d you do this, again, IOI?
