General News 1.0

The world is different than it was 100 years ago. I’m a very proud American who likes my privacy, but I could care less if everyone could see my taxes*. Who cares if everyone knows how much (or how little) money I make? It’s hilarious that I’m using a Republican argument against the GOP but here it goes… “if you’re not doing anything wrong than you have nothing to fear.” << seen that about 1000 times when it comes to drug testing and stop and frisk and other policing issues.

Add that to the long tradition Trump broke by not releasing his taxes (traditions, even dumb ones, should matter. For example: If every president has had a dog and you hate dogs… who cares, get a god damn dog etc) and it’s easy to not only see why they should release his taxes, but also easy to see why they should legislate that it’s required of anyone who becomes president. (When people start breaking unwritten rules it’s obviously time to make them written rules- from taxes to stealing bases this matters).

Looking forward to seeing the numbers.

*maybe all taxes should be public?

Don’t insult Cain that way: he was able to resolve the conflict quickly.

The bill eliminates the need for a psychiatric diagnosis of gender dysphoria, extends the application process to 16 and 17-year-olds and lowers the period the applicant is required to have lived as their acquired gender from two years to three months (six for those under 18).

67-29 so many Republicans voted for it. Mitch McConnell urged his side to vote for it. It contains around a 5% increases to non defense spending and an 8% increase for defense spending (that % does not include the 49.9billion for Ukraine aid which is separate). I somehow suspect it’ll be much more partisan in the House, but crucially, undoing any of it come Jan would require both chambers and the Dems will still have the Senate.

For those who want more information on the Criminal Referral on Trump - Devon aka LegalEagle has done a really good video explaining how it works in the US.

TL;DW: The Justice Department is not technically obligated to prosecute or do anything, but they will be required to publicly justify all decisions they do or do not make - which would make refusing very difficult given the volume and seriousness of the charges.

Sunak confirms that the Conservative party are considering blocking Scotland’s Gender Recognition bill. If this were to happen, it would be extremely big deal, the UK government has never directly intervened in the Scottish government’s lawmaking before. It seems like a great way to create a constitutational crisis if the UK government can just block any laws the devolved governments come up with, especially when the UK governement and devolved government are ran by different parties, even more so with an unelected Prime Minister with no mandate. But the Tories love to fearmonger and treat the SNP like so many of their enemies. I guess they figure at this point there is no point trying to appeal to Scottish voters and just focus entirely on winning the English vote.

I think they are ready just to take a break to replenish their supplies and then just continue to kill and destroy.
They begging for negotitations for already couple of months now, because they slowly but confidently running out resources.
I don’t expect of them to retreat and leave Ukraine and the world alone. It’s just a respite they desperately need

Sure you aren’t a money genius but it is better than being a “genius” who has lost 200 billion dollars.
