Game News Thread

I’m surprised, I wasn’t impressed at all with that. I thought the character animations looked pretty bad. It doesn’t help the trailer reminds me of Sonic 4.

Probably a bit judgy, but considering the high standard Mania set, I don’t think it looks that impressive. Guess the coop aspect could be unique. Surprised about Fang coming back, that’s a deep cut character.

As someone hoping for a Persona announcement, that final tease really blue balled me. Hopefully it’ll show up at the Xbox Showcase. The Final Fantasy stuff is funny considering a recent news article states that Square Enix is worried FFXVI isn’t selling enough pre-orders. Maybe should of shown some of that game here?

Guess I’ll really need to play the FFVII remake now. Hopefully Rebirth is the end of the remake series, rather than being part 2 of 3.

As someone hoping for a Persona announcement,

It leaked. From Atlus themselves unfortunately.

Two trailers for the P3 Remake and P5 Tactica spinoff, accidentally posted to their Instagram page after the SGF stream.

The trailers are plastered with Xbox promo, so it seems like someone mixed up the dates of the SGF and Xbox streams and posted these on the wrong date… expect to see it there. Or earlier yourself if you’re curious.
They were quickly removed but… people are quick to save things :eyes:

Oh wow. OK, you know how I’ve been talking about Persona lately. Basically, due to the way Atlus registers their websites for their games, it means that we’ve had info about Persona titles before they were unveiled. This happened to Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers in the past. Plus a video leak a while back, we’ve known for a while that a Persona 3 Remake is in the works, as well as a new Persona 5 spin-off, almost certainly meant to be shown at the Xbox Showcase.

However, someone over at Atlus’s Instagram account decided to post the reveal trailers up 3 days early, before quickly taking them down, but by that point, they’ve been put on YouTube.

So yeah, Persona 3 Reload. Looks gorgeous and pretty faithful to the original. Persona 3 and 4 were PS2 games made on tight budgets and deadlines, whereas this is a current gen title with AAA funding, and well, it shows. Pretty optimistic for this, and dare I hope this can become the definitive Persona 3 experience? The big question hanging over the game is whether the female protagonist from Portable makes the cut. I’m not betting on it to be honest, as much as I’d want it, hopefully we’ll get more info very soon.

And then there is Persona 5 Tactica. Eh, looks ok, maybe? I’m not really digging the art style, it looks cheap and nasty. Otherwise, standard Persona spin-off affair. Bit of a kick in the teeth for the Devil Survivor fans, Shin Megami Tensei series that already did the tactical RPG thing mixed with SMT and I hear both games are excellent. I’d honestly say I’m more interested in the P5X mobile game than this.

@TheChicken Beat me to it while I was typing. I’m very much looking forward to P3Reload.

The new Crash Bandicoot game is going to have a new non-binary character as part of the cast, inspired by David Bowie.

LaD Gaiden finally got a new trailer and a release date. Curious about this one. The Agent fighting style looks pretty fun and interesting. Seems like the setting will be (only?) in Osaka/Sotenbori though, which is, frankly, a bit disappointing for me. I was hoping for a brand new location… If they would at least re-introduce Shinseicho…

Well, of everything showcased at the Xbox showcase, only the next DON’T NOD looked interesting to me.

I just want a non violent open video game. I once was hoping that Death Stranding was going to be it, but nope, it had to have combat.
And even then Jusant seems to be linear.

I think the Xbox showcase was pretty decent! Not AMAZING, but good — and better than PlayStation’s. Fable, Starfield, and Hellblade 2 are the clear standouts, but there was cool smaller stuff sprinkled throughout as well.

And how about that Monkey Island crossover?? I don’t play Sea of Thieves but now I wish I did.

Also, even if it’s not a game per se, I still have to give to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It’s not only gorgeous, but also seems to have that je-ne-sais-quoi of “humans, we’re pretty great, and so is the Earth, let’s celebrate”.

Trailer features 3 seconds of Jabba the Hutt - 10/10 Masterpiece.
I’m looking forward to this game, finally a game based on the underworld. Still mad Disney canceled 1313!

Aaand a teaser for LaD8 as well? Neat. As much as I like the teaser itself though, I´m not sure how to feel about the Hawaii setting… It makes sense, but the last thing I want is this series being set in America (and have more Americans in it). As far as non-Japanese settings go, I would´ve preferred Korea. And if they wanted to go for that Pacific beach locale, I wish they´d revisit Okinawa instead.

Gotta say that trailer is really good. And a hell of a leap as well. You´re on point with the feeling it conveys. Wish I didn´t need a NASA supercomputer to play it though.

It seems the FTC were as disappointed with the State of Play as I was.

My first Skyrim playthrough was at the end of 2013, by then the last official patch was released and after 200+ hours of the game, I was able to close quest only by using the console. It felt like everything in the game was falling apart

Morrowind and Oblivion combined weren’t as borken as Skyrim. It was the game that thought me two new words: unofficial patches

2 racing games have announced their release dates. If TDU:SC will be released this year, 2023 will be hell of a year for racing game players! :star_struck:

Forza Motorsports lacks a number in the title? What is next, it is actually a trilogy that is fused into one in half a decade? :joy:

Ah well, as long as Phil Spencer will be seen riding one of his golden helicopters, then what you’re saying might become true! :upside_down_face:
