Elusive Target Galore

I can’t believe that when IO said in march they were going to reactivate old targets, they actually meant that they were going to reactivate old targets. This is so outrageous.

Jokes aside, don’t be mad about ET galore, If you want to replay these ETs just wait for the unavoidable “year 4” version. I wouldn’t be surprised that the ET lineup for year 4 would be the exact same as year 3 (which in itself was a copy of the Y2 lineup).

Or worse. The planned Fugitive went away when the Drop-ped guy came.

Well, with the second batch released today, I now have all the ET suits re-unlocked after doing the progress transfer back in November and Year 3 is 100% done all Silent Assassin! Will there be other opportunities for Year 1 and Year 2 ETs in the future? Who knows!

I do have a theory though that the reason they chose Year 3 ETs instead of Year 2 is because of how low the Year 3 ET completions were. Looking at the total people on the leaderboards for these ETs the numbers were much lower than even some of the ET Arcades.

Its almost like deciding to roll out the exact same ETs as 2022 was a poor decision on IO’s part.

Here’s hoping the Year 4 ET lineup is actually different! Here’s what I would do for this year’s lineup:
Paris - The Blackmailer, The Pharmacist, The Sensation
Sapienza - The Prince, The Guru, The Congressman
Marrakesh - The Angel of Death, The Fixer
Bangkok - The Warlord
Colorado - The Bookkeeper
Hokkaido - The Fugitive
No Year 4 versions of any Hitman 2 or 3 ETs (well, maybe The Drop), only reactivations of the Years 1-3 versions. My choices aren’t based on whether or not an ET is good, more so just based on wanting to make a Year 4 lineup as different as possible from Year 3 (and Year 2).

It’s almost like people are getting tired of this old ass, obsolete and redundant format because the Arcade is a thing now, seriusly, it’s like IO just forgot that mode exists.

Although, I do agree that If they keep insisting on not letting it die, they shoud at least try to give some variety by adding targets that have not been live in a long time or that have not been live altogether like The Prince, The Angel of Death, The Blackmailer and The Paparazzo. I also agree that they shoud just not bother with H2 and 3 ETs because of how many tines they have appeared already, on both live format and Arcade.

god blessed me
I bought Hitman in Steam account 2 months ago and now i got all the suits ET in 1 month all what i got in Epic account
Nice time for ET galore…

That’s impossible; IO tends to make sure in every span at least one ET for each H1/2 location to make glove suits possible.

Like I said, just reactivate the already existing Year 1-3 versions of those ETs since it’s really doubtful that someone failed The Revolutionary or The Serial Killer in both Year 2 and Year 3, or failed all 5 chances for beating an ET on the Isle of Sgail. They could even reactivate multiple of the same ET at the same time! Have a double Murillo, double Jamison, or a triple (sextuple?) Dame Barbara event!

Alternately, they could make new ETs on those locations. That would also provide more chances to unlock their suits.

Okay, so some time has passed on this, and I wanna give my thoughts on this…event.

This was such a “dropped the ball” moment for the winter roadmap. I’m sorry to Travis for this, but trying to hype ET Galore up as some kind of new game mode or event to speculate about was a massive miscalculation on their part. Travis/ IO should’ve been honest about what ET galore was, instead of trying to act all coy from the offset. For those who need reminding, this is what was written:

You can see why people got hyped up, as the last sentence made it sound different to previous events. It sounded generic and lacking information, as if to tease us. With hindsight, Travis isn’t wrong here, it just didn’t feel special enough to build hype for.

I had only missed one ET (The Forger), so I only had 1 out of 18-ish I could do. Cool. This decision just punished veteran players for keeping up with the game throughout the year, and could’ve been solved by running another “holiday special” set of ET’s, or re-activating older ones failing that, as mentioned.

Or you could’ve been blunt about what we were getting, instead of attempting to adding unnecessary intrigue to the proceeding’s.

We already knew it was going to be reruns of ET’s, that was at least expected (IO, you have a pattern, it’s not hard to figure that out). This whole thing felt like such a misfire in player expectations.

I shared similar sentiments on the /r/ArtofRally subreddit if you wanna gander at that. You can probably tell what I’ve been playing instead of ET galore

The very fact you made ETA suggests you as a company want to move away from time-limited content (In fact, since DGS, very few things have actually been time limited), so I do greatly appreciate this change in behaviour.

Now more than ever am I convinced that ET’s should just be made permanent. I was (and still am) fine with ETA being that substitute, but since you stopped adding new contracts to that, there hasn’t been an advertised alternative for over a year now. And I think I speak for a good chunk of players when I say: We’re all sick of waiting.

To the new community manager, CombatGlue (Love the username btw), first off Hi! Hope you’re having a lovely day, sorry for this being the first thing I write to you about when it comes to gameplay improvements for the game. I’m not normally this…peeved. Second;

Make. ET’s. Permanent.

Even if the rewards have to be different (I.E, pin badges on former unlocks or entirely new suits), it would still be a better experience than current. With ET’s, The sentiment I’m seeing more and more is that the ET’s have lost their “time limited”-ness now, and ET Galore is where the straw is breaking for many people’s backs as it becomes obvious what we could have all year round.

I hope to reignite this discussion again, and hopefully in a constructive manner, among IO themselves and in the community. Like with a revamp of offline mode, this something the game sorely needs in order to make the game a more complete experience than current.

Thank you for reading - Dribbles.

It’s an odd occasion when I have no disagreements with something @Dribbleondo says, but… yeah, ditto to all he said.

The only thing I would add to that is that in the blog post, it was said “More information coming shortly” - but that never happened. The next bit of information was when all the ETs were loaded into the game. There was no blog post, no tweet, nothing. It was just left to the player to figure out for themselves what was going on.

Travis/Clemens as great as they were, also regularly promised communications that would never come to be. Maybe that’ll be different now. :crossed_fingers:

I simply can’t understand why people keep getting frustrated, betrayed, misled (or whatever else you want to call it) because Galore turned out to be reactivations when it was clearly announced back in MARCH that it was going to be reactivations, I mean, they even used the word “Galore” on the roadmap. The only diference was that that the re runs were intended to be for Y2 targets instead of Y3, but still, an “ET Galore” was announced for december and we got an “ET Galore” in december. And yet, somehow, everyone thought it was going to be something else.

I guesss the wording on the winter roadmap was a little cryptic and they should’ve used the tilte “Re Run Galore” as before, but even there they said “RETURNING Elusive Targets”. Really, please, tell me, I want to know, what else were you expecting??

I think the fact that they said more info would be coming soon suggested that all might not be as it seemed, perhaps?

I’ll let @Dribbleondo and @thrison explain it with more clarity.

For me at least the criticism isn’t that they were reactivations, the criticism comes from the fact that the Galore was the only content/event in the game from early December and seemingly runs through until about mid-February. So players that had kept up with the content throughout 2023 got absolutely nothing for over two months.

It seems completely backward for IO to be wanting to completely shaft the loyal players that are consistently coming back to the game week after week by just giving them nothing. Especially when they could have sprinkled in just an extra target or two that wasn’t a reactivation, just to provide something.

I haven’t launched the game for well over a month now, which is the first time since H3 launched that has happened because IO decided they purposefully wanted to not give a reason for me to do so.

  1. The year-long roadmap is a guide, not a hard set of outlines, hence why there’s a lack of content being mentioned in each month. TS6 released during this time and was not on this list, and i’m pretty sure there’s some other stuff missing too This also says Year 2, not Year 3.

  2. We all knew they would be re-runs (I even said as such!), that’s not what we’re annoyed about. What we’re annoyed with, is that they tried to imply that the galore was something more than it really was, and didn’t dissuade people from thinking otherwise. Even on this roadmap, it’s still vague what “Rerun Galore” means, especially given the context we have now.

A way for people of all stripes to enjoy the game they invested themselves in over the winter period, instead of being locked out for a good two months because they were loyal. That’s what we were expecting. As @Thrison said, this is very backwards logic for IO.

The question is… This roadmap was said to be edited by neither Clemens nor Travis.

That’s not a question.
