Really, you struggled that badly with the wrath escalation? I found it to be just the opposite, it seemed way too easy for me, the key was to just use lethal throwing to kill NPCs (and kind of was my main point about why throwing is OP in its current form), I don’t understand how you could really struggle with it to that point

This was the first time I’d ever played The Warlord. That safe is hard to get to! I ended up pulling a fire alarm to get the guards throughout the map moving, then waited for the perfect split second to unlock the safe.

Almost got spotted on my way out which would have really annoyed me. Will try for a faster run next time… Bangkok is pretty but so frustrating at times.

Thanks for the support and understanding, mate, appreciate your empathy.

I fully understood how best to play and beat Wrath, and I still failed round 2 a handful of frustrating, almost controller-smashing times.

Likewise, I knew what I was supposed to be doing and had read/watched every tips post/guide out there, but I just couldn’t execute (if you’ll pardon the pun) the strategies without getting killed or without Inhibitors reaching the top floor.

My natural playstyle in the ‘main’ game is very slow and very cautious, and you simply can’t play that way for the Wrath Termination because as well as all the other things (forced Suit Only, all NPCs are Hostile, limited weapon options) that don’t play to my strengths as a risk-averse player, the absolute killer is the de facto timer on the mission as enemies race to the top floor no matter how many distractions you’re able to set up between Waves.

For a slow and steady player like me, that time limit forces you to play faster than your capabilities and - unlike the Envy Contention, which I also hated playing due to the enforced speedrun style - the NPC movements are completely randomised so you can’t even rely on guides to rote-learn speedy strats that will work if you follow the guide to a tee.

I didn’t mean it in a negative way, rather I’m curious about which part or how you were struggling with it, I just never saw it as an escalation that was difficult, it’s definitely way too long and can be monotonous at times, but I’ve never heard of anyone struggling with it or the challenges associated with it.

Fair play, no offence taken in that case. :slightly_smiling_face:

There are at least a few other people who had the same struggles as me though, while searching for general hints/guides on Reddit I saw a bunch of people who were running into brick walls just like me. Very happy to see the back of it!

I could never get past the second level of Wrath either but I don’t really see how all this stuff about Wrath is related to the ETA

Some time ago there was an ET tier list and I think I rated the Bookkeeper as alright since I usually just corner-propane him, but in the Authoritarians he’s just awful. The guy has no less than 4 guards sniffing his butt at all times, it’s a total emetic festival to be able to melee him. At the bottom of the list you go.

And if you subdue one of those four guards, the other three automatically go on alert and the target goes into the immediate escape mode even if the guard was isolated and subdued quietly. Almost lost because of this so my next playthrough I took the precaution of setting up a micro-explosive on the guy’s car. I was so annoyed I ended up making a contract for The Bookkeeper’s bodyguards which are the four guards behind the house exercising.

I was wondering what the freak was going on!

IOI did these last two batches to troll us. I’m sure of it.

I ended up throwing the emetic grenade (that explodes on impact, from Ambrose) at a truly great moment when all guards were clumped together. Then some cheeky noise distractions later, sliced the target in the tall grass. This did take me a few restarts.

So if you blow up his car, he can never escape? Cheeky cheeky.

I agree that the Authoritarians was a pretty annoying collection, the Aesthetes was fine though (and I say that as someone who absolutely despises the Appraiser). Neither particularly hard nor trollish, although the Broker took me a lot of tries because of his random spawn.

I will say that with the complication of having to hide The Appraiser’s body, I now have a faster time. The ‘messing with the oil tank where she smokes’ was the go-to (and having gotten stale) solution. Or maybe just MY go-to solution.

So I suppose I can say the idea of complications can be justified sometimes in how they make you think of doing these ETs in a different way. Like the 1st time they had The Angel of Death. I had always killed her somewhere in the mission instead of her spawning location. In one sense - it feels forced, but I can also see it as “Hey! Have you ever considered doing this?” And then you think of a new or better idea.

The trollish part with the Aesthetes is it has the Hide All Bodies complication, which everyone complained about when the mode launched and IO themselves promised to never use it again in the March Roadmap.

Meh. It was optional, and it featured targets that have already appeared in the Arcade already that it wasn’t the end of the world like it was at the beginning of the year.

It was actually a fun twist playing along with the complication imo. I was “forced” to play The Appraiser and The Broker in a way that I never had before, which was quite fun I found. As for The Collector, he appeared in the last one with the same complication - so been there, done that.

Ah I see. It’s strange that there were so many complaints about “hide all bodies”, I don’t think this specific complication is that annoying for ETs since most of them are single targets roaming a large area. I’ve probably seen more complaints about “no loadout” (although I find it to be an interesting challenge personally).

With The Angel of Death (in her first ET Arcade appearance), she has an entourage of side’ler guards. So if she happens to die any other place than on that top floor where she spawns - it’s going to be impossible to hide her body.

Even if you did KO the guards - that’d still count as bodies needing to be hidden before you can exit. Unless you could get them all Accidentally KO’d somehow, then they get woke up.

IIRC there are only 2 guards on the roof with her? You can just climb the pipe to the roof (as soldier), get rid of the guards with emetics or plant guns / explosives to make them leave, kill her right where she is and hide the body in the chest. I remember having more trouble finding her than killing her during that first ETA :x

Right. That complication for that ET makes it so there’s pretty much only one solution. And that’s boring. And you’re SOL if you don’t know the solution.

I personally MUCH prefer no loadout. It’s one of my favorite ways to play.

I had the exact same experience. Having to hide the body actually pushed me to try a different approach with both of those. And in case of the Broker even inspired me to take on a self-imposed challenge of getting as many coins from the Greed cane as possible while keeping SASO and the objective.
As I said with the release of the Blusterous, complications that break the common go-to strategies are some of the best complications that actually justify telling us to play those ETs once again. (as long as the ET is still playable with the complication)

IO please don’t make us kill Stowaway with Suit Only complication
