Elusive Target #34: THE FIXER (Year 5: February 28 - March 9)

The Fixer is now live!

Sadly the fail conditions haven’t been removed - be careful everyone!! :purple_heart:

Saw the target, seikered him, drowned him and instantly failed lol

I ended up having a quick look at it and it looks to be completely unchanged. Which isn’t too surprising.

Boom shakalaka.
Bonus for 4001 player level.

(I also updated the the “information and tips” post with the possible locations for the diamond exchange.)

Some highlights:

The Fixer waiting for me to retrieve the diamond in the Shisha Cafe. A nice chap.

A coin trail for the courier. Shiny.

In the end I only used the coins. Plan A.
I brought the blue easter egg, the durian, and a sieker. Just in case. It wasn’t.

(I had a whole plan B route for the courier if he arrived in the school/wanted to be sure the exchange happened: knocking the guard by the press, durian the courier when in the central court, then knock out by the bin he would have gone to. Plan C was sedative in the stairs.)

Also: IO doubling down on re-writing history and pretending like this ET was never live in H2. Even though it was pointed out multiple times when the blog post for the season first went live.

After someone pointed it out they edited the tweet to correct that

As evidenced below your post, I don’t think they are doubling down, so much as they just aren’t paying attention.

Really disappointed that no changes were made to this mission but I guess that’s just the way it is.
Praise to the Durian™

Only 48 people have gotten on the leaderboard for Xbox so far which is very low even for Year 5 ET standards. I wouldn’t be surprised if many people are failing a minute into the mission because of the hidden fail conditions. These insta-fail conditions are a real blight on this game.

It’s not hidden at all; Diana says explicitly that you need to tail either the target or the courier for the second objective’s location. That there is a second objective means that you have to do both. If you follow the target he will eventually meet the courier, and will leave without giving any information on the whereabouts of the package. Ergo, you must follow the courier from there to find the package. If you take the courier out before he gets it, you don’t know where it is, meaning you fail because you cannot complete the second objective. It is very clear that you cannot simply go in killing the target, or taking out the courier, without doing some reconnaissance first.

2 hours??? -1.120.000 points for non-target kills?

The level consists not only guards, I guess that person was just aiming to clear off the whole map for fun

Depeding on your strategy.
When I clearing levels, I’m doing it in silent assassin style.
Of course it takes more than 2 hours usually, but…
And if I remember correctly, killing nonNPCs also negates your score.
Marrakesh has tons of nonNPCs and that someone could’ve just killing them

Well, that was … there. Following a guy with a hat around for what feels like an eternity, but after that, it’s pretty easy. Trank the guy, kill the other one, get spotted, while getting out to screw up 5 Stars … normal day in the office.

Not really fun, because it feels like forever before you can really do anything. Of course, if you don’t know that, you can pretty easy fail the thing, but since I’m a really carefull player, I guess I would have got it even without the warnings. I mean, it is pretty clear what to do, it just takes forever.

Ah yes. My mistake. I forgot about the briefing video in truth because it didn’t play automatically for me when I opened up the target mission. To be honest with you, I don’t think I’ve seen the Fixer’s briefing video for over 5 years now!

Sorry about that

It feels incredible that there are people who are either ballsy enough to attempt a kill everyone challenge on an Elusive Target knowingly or simply because they’re not very good yet at the game and they got spotted and wanted to make sure there are no witnesses. Something even novice me would never try and do, unless it was on Colorado back in 2017! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So you can pacify the target after he talks to the courier? Do you need to secure the diamonds first to be able to kill him?

I killed the fixer.
