So long as the full game can be accessed offline, it won’t matter. In fact, the day I finish all challenges and can access the full game in offline mode, I will turn it offline, never to turn it on again.
If IOI will shutdown their servers, (maybe in 2025)
so i pretty sure you still can play with peacock server
Only PC players have access to that. Us console players will be fucked if ioi shuts down the Hitman servers without implementing a way for us to access everything offline.
Remind me what we lose offline? I know the escalations go away and I know we keep our suits and our kit. Do we lose 7DS escalations too? What about the extra or side missions?
The only content available offline is the Main Missions, Bonus Missions (The Icon, Landslide & A House Built On Sand), Special Assignments (Embrace Of The Serpent, Illusions Of Grandeur, A Silver Tongue & A Bitter Pill) and Patient Zero missions (The Source, The Author, The Vector & Patient Zero).
You lose escalations, contracts mode, ET Arcade, Sniper Assassin, 7DS, ALL seasonal content, ALL permanent seasonal content, access to the Career tab, ability to unlock challenges/anything.
Game is pretty bare offline.
and Freelancer mode :(((
Honestly that’s what I would want to play if I booted up 10 years down the line. The 7DS loss irks me bc we specifically paid for that, but I don’t replay those. I don’t even think I finished them.
I understand why people want it to be made fully offline though and I’m in that camp too bc of principle. Happy to know the summer bonus missions and patient zero are available offline. Those are really solid missions.
There’s been a few hints that seem to point to an offline mode coming at some point.
The last patch notes made a point to call out that they patched the first three batches in the Arcade to remove the additional complications, but they achieved that months ago server-side. Why would they bother to put that in the patch and include it in the patch notes when it makes absolutely no change to how anyone can play the mode currently?
Not sure what you mean!? As soon as they patched it, all those ET contracts changed to their current state: one complication.
They only had one complication for months before the May patch released. They removed the additional complications in March by changing data that the game pulls from the servers when you’re playing in online mode. That’s also how they added the ET briefings, which were originally not available to watch inside the Arcade.
The only visible change to the Arcade by the patch was making the complications optional.
I think the reason they included info about the ET Arcade change was to notify players who might not have seen the announcement in the March roadmap but who are coming back to the game after the new patch.
I think the point he’s trying to make is that the changes made, regardless of why they were made, we’re done in such a way as to hint that IOI is slowly converting everything to be able to work even if not connected to the servers, meaning that full offline play may become available down the road, once all relevant updates to the game have come and gone.
And Holiday Hoarders and Hokkaido Snow Festival, which is why you can’t save in them in the first place.
I was including those as “Seasonal Content” but I should’ve specified “Permanent Seasonal Content” i.e. those two + The Orson Nightmare level + the Berlin Easter Egg Hunt.
Part of me kinda doubts that it was a “hint” to any kind of offline mode. Agreed with luke that it might have just been a reiteration of “we have a refined ETA mode now”, since the change was pretty abrupt in March with no patch accompanying it.
And so far, IOI have either avoided Offline questions, or responded with “we have no plans for this at this time”
Meaning they’re probably still going to keep the servers online 5-7 years after Hitman 3 is done, and as long as they’re going to keep that system up, they’d don’t need to prepare anything Offline quite yet.
2016 is still online, but time will tell if it will get an Offline push when they do decide to pull the plug. (Chances are no, since Hitman 3 is still a thing and kinda being pushed as the definitive Hitman Trilogy experience)
I don’t think they’re hinting at it, it’s just shown how they achieved the recent change and that could point to stuff their working toward.
I forgot about the Halloween and Christmas levels. Those are pretty cool too. Egg Hunt was fun as well.
I wonder how big the file would be if they had us download everything to be fully offline? All the ETs with briefing videos included ? So massive I bet, but I’d do it. I love turning on my X360 once or twice every 5 years and getting destroyed by At the Gates. I wonder if in 10 years we will look back and say WOA is harder than whatever the current game is ?
Don’t forget rating screen and saves, 2 very basic stuff unavailable offline
I’m still confused by this. That change to the ET Arcade was made to online only content that we access online through their server. That’s how they were able to patch it so fast (because it didn’t require a download from us players).
So how is that a sign/hint/indication of a potential offline mode (or even steps towards that) when it"s all being done to online only content!?
What am I missing!?
The change is no longer online only since the patch. It removed the additional complications that were in the game files, so when/if the Arcade becomes available offline - it matches online mode.
Please record that in the voice of the guy when you shoot him with a Sieker:
"Maybe I could die from this…I DON’T WANNA DIE !!! "
